But dude... being homeless just because you dont have a job is REALLY rare in the western world. USA or western-northern Europe. There are so many things that help you get a temporary home and to make you able to get food for the day and make you survive cold winter nights and enough of things for you to maybe get a job and eventually buy a cheap apartment. A normal person here should realistically only be able to be homeless for a couple of months, maybe a year at the worst. The reason there still exists homeless people and ALWAYS will, no matter what change happens, is because of addictions. Drugs, alcohol or even GAMBLING. Pick your poison. These people will never get out of it no matter the ammount of help they get because what got them homeless in the first place was not bad luck, it was their bad mentality. An rare case was the last guy who were homeless since 14! Dude, you have to realise how fucking rare that is and suprise suprise he reveals to us he's got Schizofrenia after a while of talking. When he said he had that, everything made sense to me. There is no way in hell a normal person would run away from home because of "freedom" and staying homeless until the age of 29. No, that's not how the world works here in the west when you have no sort of prior problems such as a mental health disorder or some addiction problems.

Great eye opener Andrew. Thanks for filming on a sensitive topic. I've always felt that the vast majority of homeless people are a result of horrible home situations or mental illness or sadly both. Something that a soup kitchen or shelter can't fix. I do feel for these people. A food gift card is actually a really great thing to give. I used to spend a lot of rime in hollywood. One day I saw a clean cut businessman in a suit walking down sunset av looking extremely upset and a bit strung out. Over the next two years I witnessed this man on the streets looking grungier by the day. Extremely sad.

Asianpride Sadequi It means that the businessman slowly lost his title, career and, I guess, money, to the point where he became homeless, for that reason. From what I read of the original comment, this is what I see, the businessman slowly getting his title diminished

What an amazing video. You could tell Andrew was unsure of how to approach and start a conversation, but by the end of the video it looked just like two friends having a chat. These guys must be so strong to survive the harsh conditions of the streets whilst we take for granted our beds. Thanks for the video, Andrew.

Francisco looks like a very personable person. That's the best part about many homeless people, they have a charisma that is so strong, because they have to have it, so it's a continuing skill.

So many of us are just a few paychecks away from being homeless. I don't rest, I just sleep, I eat because I need to and I will work as long as I'm able.

talking for a few minutes with a homeless person can really make their day! even just for them to feel like a member of society and not an outkast all the time. i've sat with them for half an hour sometimes and definitely get some interesting stories!

Wow this was really awesome of you to reach out just to hear their stories..... most people are broken down and homeless are generally either severely mentally ill , or physically dependent upon drugs.. the second guy seemed so lost he didn’t even know what to do with his life. I hope they find some peace.

I've been homeless due to drug addiction [in recovery now] and my heart goes out to anyone living on the streets. Once you get in that situation it's almost impossible to get out of it, especially with mental illness. When you lose everything you have it's so hard to build your life back up. I hope those guys enjoyed their McDonalds and can eventually somehow help themselves or find help to get them off the streets at least. Thanks for sharing! You probably made their night easier just by talking to them and giving them an easy way to get food.
