Demonstration of Chemistry experiments on the last day of lessons (2016-17) at N. Alikarnassos Highschool, Greece.
Eight trained students (grades 10-11) conducted the sheer joy of Chemistry to their peers! I am grateful to my students for their enthusiasm and commitment!

What can be used in place of KI in elephant toothpaste experiment??

Other catalysts for H2O2 decomposition are MnO2, KMnO4 and the enzyme catalase, however they do not produce the exact seme result. KMnO4 makes a similar foam but is toxic. For catalase you can use yast or even an animal's blood.

That's true! Some oxidation of iodide to iodine takes place as well. Iodine in low concentrations appears yellow and when it mixes with blue or red it gives out green or orange color respectively.
