What? This is Chaweng? I lived there for 2 1/2 years in the early 2000's, and I would never recognize the place. It's become so-o-o-o glitzy and touristy. This is NOT my cup of tea. Forget any notions I may have had to ever go back there. Horrors!

Central Samui expensive shops not many go there at night.

its complete low season until December when schools close in Europe or backpackers are in town on way to koh phangnan for the full moon party. Even the local thai freelancers looking for farang US$000s are still in in isaan or working overseas as no customers in chaweng. Same position in Pattaya or phukhet

Central samui is a standard Thai shopping mall like you find in bangkok but only one on island if on a budget you dont come to Koh samui really.By chaweng lake there is a night market most days if looking for tourist type gifts or cheap local food. All locals avoid fishermans village as a known tourist trap for inflated prices.@@ianwallace16

Samui after Covid got to expensive minimum 50% up everything, Pg Flights,Resorts, Bars, Restaurants, Day Trips , ripp of Tourist now. People travel Phuket and Pattaya now.
