I bought myself the cheapest pneumatic rivet gun I could find after a job came in that required more than a bags worth of rivets. my hands wrists and elbows thanked me. anymore that about 5 using a manual rivet gun is just brutal on the body!

I wonder what battery standard Minova is. Part of me wonders of it is compatible with Dewalt, Makita, Bosch, or some other battery standard, but the thermister pin is in a different location. It would be nice to rig up a battery adapter for it to use with other batteries in case you drain the ones you have.

This is a great advice. Actually we are developing battery adapters that are compatible with Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee and Dewalt.

Bugger! That Amazon link says they don't ship to NZ 😕 If there's an adapter to use Dewalt batteries on these, I reckon Minova will have the competition wincing.

ok the price difference is huge, and it looks like it works pretty well. didn't know about those hemlock rivets, they look really neat! regarding the wall battery storage, maybe it would be more space efficient (and easier to pull) if they were mounted under some horizontal shelves, so you can pull them out perpendicular to the wall and you could stack them right one on top of another

There is a bit air in power tool prices , of course that brand name on the side cost money. Just got Makita DLW 140, 36v metal cut saw, sold at 1/2 price in couple shops, so had to get one, bet they still made profit and prices were back to normal now. Same with that Makita DKT 360 , water heater , got one for 1/4 from list price... yeah clearly not over priced at all. Now there is Mikita light sale in few shop, €150 for Makita DML 810, those are usually sold here for €300 each, not decided if i need few 🙂

I got them to review with the other 1/4" models, but the Metabo only does up to 6mm, not 6.4mm. Big fail in my opinion, especially for the price. So back it went. Hopefully I'll do the rivet nut version one day.

Economy of scale, projected sell through, and projected sell-in are the heavy hitters. Also, if you’re a factory with millions of dollars in receivables and expenses, $1.5k for a rivet gun is different than someone making $40k a year and buying it for themselves. The manufacturer’s of these tools know their audience. This was a niche product until fairly recently. Taiwan and China making OEM and white label for brands has brought in a more cost conscious industrial grade. Mainstream brands stepping in are bringing in a more commercial grade for limited field use. Milwaukee went for the juggler with their pricing on the m12 unit.

Always fancied a battery rivet gun. I've had an air one for years and several different attachment ones. Couldn't justify the stupid price of the known brand ones. They can't even trade on their warranty now. In Australia the repair shops are few. Often crap. And they can't get the parts to repair anything anyway. The tool is gone for months. Or written off after months. And obviously no loan tool, or temporary hire replacement. If a regularly used tool, only option is buy another. For the price if this thing works. No brainer. Makes you wonder why the big brands are so dear. Given these days most are made in China or Taiwan. Even all your USA brands have little to do with Uncle Sam.
