A decent system like the little quirky bits like to handle to help load it into a a pick-up (or Bakkie in South Africa) i think it could be improved on though instead of dragging it it could have some wheels mounted on them to aid it further. The boxes look really sturdy. also i think you cant have big enough wheels when on a building site. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a battery tray that was able to be plugged in and used as a charging station also have solar panel attachments for some of the lids to keep it greenish. I guess we could go on and on but lastly really do like the horizontal set up it does look like you can get more in it and opens up to longer boxes for the challenging and awkward tools.

Whilst everything looks good with it laid flat I do wonder how all the tools fair once you tip it to vertical to start wheeling it into the job site. I've liked Makpac due to its compatibility with Festool Systainers and the many brands that use them. Show me a new toolbox that can comfortably protect my 305mm cordless Makita slider and double as a low saw stand and I'll jump at it :) I'll admit that Systainers/Makpacs are workshop sturdy but aren't robust enough for rough outdoor job site use long term. They've had long enough to work on a new system while Makpac has fallen well behind. You pointed out the same thing another Jon on UK Tool Talk said, the large base unit is designed for loading onto pickup truck flatbeds, which is obviously focused on the US market. Will this shape be inconvenient for typical vans in the UK? And only that big case has trolley parts, right? So you can't configure a narrower or vertical system if you want. Also, as you observed, no drawer module yet. I do like the multiple hinging options. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to on the new channel! 🛠️

Just because it is priced similar to other products in the market does not make it good value. The market is just overpriced. The fact these boxes are bigger is good, in a way, but one of the benefits of the systainer system is that you got a 'free' systainer with every tool and the small size made one tool per box make sense. I don't see that happening here. Milwaukee for example don't include a packout with each tool. You either get nothing or another random box that doesn't connect and probably ends up in the bin.

They are releasing two huge box chargersBCC01 and BCC02 (for 8 large batteries or 12 small ones), but not sure they will work with this new system. @@LoganConnally Why would they see the need to completely change the system, except to make someone buy a completely new set of equipment. Just because the system is popular in the UK, doesn't exclude it from being popular or used in other countries or regions. I already have half of a storage system that works, and I am always adding to the system. Since the system is double the price of what I already have, and what is available with other brands. Since the system is not compatible with what I already have, and I have to buy a new set of storage if I want to expand or replace what I have as it wears out. Give me one good reason why I should purchase the MakTrak, and not just start again with a cheaper, as good, or better system, from another brand.?

Makpac is absolute rubbish. Its more brittle than systainers and the thumb latches nobody is a fan of. I drop kicked my makpac track saw box into the dumpster. There is absolutely no way Makita will integrate these two systems. The maktrak is a soft durable ABS that will be best suited for those in the field onsite. I am a Makita and Festool guy but I’m still waiting to see what Makita comes out with in addition to this introductory set. Looking for various units with drawer configurations especially. I love the fact that they’re made right here in the USA. I definitely feel Makita is 10 years late to the MakOut party. Gecko Grips - nothing new about this stuff - Festool was here first and many many years ago! Google: Transport and deployment of the mobile workshop MW 1000 (Festool TV)...and its Transport trolley SYS-Roll 100 works in the same fashion. The main novelty here is the horizontal design but this only works u to a certain height- after that the pack becomes unworkable. Fine for open bay trucks but for a Ford Transit Custom L1/L2 - H2 this stuff is a hit and miss depending on who one works but for many not really a replacement for vertical storage. There are other minor but useful novelties you pointed out and that most of us will get to enjoy. For me? I'll definitely buy a set to be used as a nice complement to my Festoool / Dewalt / Toughbuilt storage but it won't be replacing any of these.
