Thanks my friend. yeah very useful machine to have the new machines have a 4" back plate built in so no need for adapter. will be nice an extension on you lab so you can swing the cat . have not crashed yet. sunshine been very nice been eating a big fresh cream Victoria sponge this afternoon yum yum eat to much. it has 2 key holes. does it mean it moves each pair of jaws independently? so that we can self center rectangular objects? thanks for sharing this trueing hack, I'll use it on my lathe soon.

A universal 4 jaw chuck is my favorite. It holds the bar stock much more securely as compared to a 3 jaw. The only flaw with this chuck is that the bar stock must be fairly round and will not work with hex bar stock. A 3 jaw chuck will always have its place.

But why were you tapping the back plate rather than the high spot on the chuck? Seems backwards to me

@@JAYZWORKSHOP Heres what I dont get... you say you find the high spot when the dial is furthest anticlockwise, which I think is really the low spot (the needle is further out in that position with the dial on top)....!
