Just some friendly advice : Respirator !! Loose the table, tires, wheels Move truck into garage more Plastic on floor, wet floor Run air hose over right shoulder, continue down your back thru your belt & leave some slack on hose so you can move around Paint starting highest point Left to right, top to bottom 15-20 minutes flash increments between coats hardener ? catalyst ? more thinner less psi Congratulations good first try

Good result man. Nice job. People can nitpick your technique or prep, but it is better than it was. If you're happy, that's what counts.
@TheLifeTerm2 жыл бұрын
At minimum, do a 50% overlap. A little less air pressure ( you're using an HVLP gun. High Volume Low Pressure ). That gun is made to operate as pressures lower than 40 psi. Also, an enamel catalyst ( hardener ) will work wonders with Rust-Oleum. It's a bit pricey, but we'll worth the extra cost. Amazon sells a half pint for around $30. That said, you did a good job, considering your first paint job.. much better than my first job. 👍
@peachtreee46492 жыл бұрын
I did the same thing to 95 Tacoma but with a bunch of spray cans. Take your time with the prep, paint, clear coat, and buff and it will turn out better than you think. Drove for about 2 years and Dealer was impressed and took it in as a trade in. 😁

Some 1000 grit sand paper and some good polishing compound will make it look like glass
@GlenJS5 ай бұрын
I would suggest that you sand the truck down with some 1000 grit and then apply clear coat on top of the paint. You might be able to sand out some if not all of the orange peel that way and the clear will look much better after the sanding. Dauntless has some very good advice and you should consider it and the respirator is a must when you are painting.
@amycyclenut4 жыл бұрын
In my experience, Rustoleum goes on best from a shinny/smooth perspective, with lower air pressure. The higher air pressure gives it that look you got. Also, like others said an enamel harder would make that paint hard as hell.

Some good advise on here. RESPIRATOR RESPIRATOR RESPIRATOR. In addition to those that said to start from the top and work your way down and from the center of your vehicle out... On all your body lines, your first squirt should be along those Body Lines. Then the top and over, down the sill posts. Center hood out. And don't sweat the run...EVERY painter has left his signature. I have taken them down a panel and let them drip to the floor. For a smoother finish, you can use a mostly reducer, with a little color in it and do what's called a fog coat over the whole car using the same technique, top to bottom. This allows the paint to flow together. But be aware of signatures, spreading something so thin on. And if you are squirting a metal flake paint, it helps to stop modeling. That's where you have the light dark streaks. That helps the metal flakes in the paint flow smoother between your Strokes. Just for future reference if you happen to do a metal flake. And always have Patience. )))

The tractor was a 1962 model and it looked like it was bran new. He told me, and I had guessed he hard to have painted that tractor with a paint spray air gun, and air compressor. Wrong. He mixed in thinner and harder in the green paint along with hardener and rolled it on his tractor. Man, the way it came out, so beautifully done, you could swear he spray painted it, but didn't! Quit snapping the kinks outta that hose. It flick dirt and dust everywhere. ALWAYS start painting from top to bottom so the dust overspray gets melted into the paint as you get lower and lower. Shooting the top last, drops overspray on the lower panels that'll give you a pebble texture..... unless that is what you wanted.
