Your explanation of the jet sizing is gonna be a life saver!!! Cause I've been getting bogging at about half throttle. I'll swap the standard jet for a larger one. I'll report back once done

I’ve been struggling with getting the bike started after new carburetor install. I’m pretty sure I have my gasket properly installed, so I’m gonna have to play with a larger jet. In NE Ohio so probably about same elevation. Gonna have to play around some now, thanks for the video.

Elevation is not a concern here in NE Ohio neighbor. How to start the engine is not often talked about. Right or wrong here's what I do. One pull choked, then turn the choke off. Open the throttle to about 1/8 and pull. The second it starts quickly let go of the throttle. This is the same process I used to kick start my dirt bike. But I didn't have to let go of the throttle because the bike is in neutral. That had a VM36 Mikuni with no idle screw.

So far, my PWK is working pretty good. I have a 24mm on my mild built Ducar 212. The only issue I had, is the plastic cover that holds the cable in the slide and the needle in place, wasn't sitting all the way down, causing the needle to move. Once I figured out, that I have to press the plastic cover all the way down until it stops, it has nee a great carb. I put 20+ miles or more on my bike every nite and i don't have any issues now. I will buy one of these carbs, to see how it compares.

Your right about that spacer i had problems trying to figure it out well come to find out the spacer gaskets was causing a vacuum leak

When I installed it I could not get the engine to start, but it did run with the stock carb. What I had to do was 1: the air mixture screw at the bottom was backed out 5 turns out of the box. I ran it down and backed it out 1 turn. 2: I did install a larger main jet as recommended for a 212 Predator. I could then start it but it would not run off choke and had a bad bog off idle. 3: This was the real problem that I found that the pilot jet was blocked solid. I could not see through it or get a wire through it. I had to use a #59 drill bit to clear the blockage. After that I could start the engine and get it to run off the choke.

I love my cheap mikuni mine did everything thing you said wouldn’t idle ran only chock on and it never once was the carb boy did I scream it was it was a few things had that gasket a little off man mines perfect now and it absolutely hauls ass!

I’ve got 18 pound springs aluminum flywheel and no governor and exhaust plus this carb I switched out the 95 jet to a 115 jet and at idle when I pull the throttle it turns off I’m lost can anyone help

Unscrew the top of the carb off (the cable and plunger / throttle assembly) and change the postion the needle,it has a few notches at the top of it lower the C clip sits in that notches to introduce your fuel mixture sooner mitigating your problem.....or don't idgaf

You don't need anything else. We call it a choke even though nothing is being choked. It just opens the enrichment circuit to allow extra fuel in during a cold pull start.

I got a 224 no gov, straight pipe and im up to a 140 main, 5th eclip position, still cuts in n out, no air keaks, sprayed the entire setup and no pickup so elimantes any leaks.....

Dude I got the same carb, it intakes to much air for the 196cc. I ran it on choke and my bike ran flawless without backfiring out the exhaust. Soon as I turn off the choke I get backfire out the exhaust from to much air. I’m in Michigan so I had to down my pilot jet. I might have to bump to a 30 though cause now I’m to lean as well. Rich or lean I still had backfire. I’m gonna check to see if it’s a vacuum leak

Installed on my b200r 196cc. Run and idles fine, but no matter what jet i use and lower or higher the needle. It still runs too rich. Any suggestions? I have same exact on my other b200r with a 212 and it runs great. A little on the lean side but it gos.

So I lined up the seal as best I could. It does not line up as center as yours does for some reason idk. 🤷🏼♂️ gotta get her warmed up to operating temp and see if it’s still a vacuum leak. I’m convinced this carb just takes in to much air and that’s what’s causing my exhaust deceleration pop or backfire. Idk 🤷🏼♂️

The last kit I got had a bad intake. It was impossible to get the carb aligned. I had to dremel the slotted holes to make it work. You may have the same issue.

I've got one that no matter how I jet it ,it has a big flat spot in it that I cannot get out sometimes I can move that flat spot around a little bit but cannot get rid of it I just don't know what to do with it Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

What do you do to recreate the flat spot? I have brief flat spot on one on mine that happens only when I quickly snap it to full throttle. Everything else works great. I rode recently and found that I rarely snap it to full throttle so I don't really care to dig into it. I guess I could have another look at the idle mixture and needle clip position. My main jet is already set and shouldn't need changed.

You should try to drill out the jet to bigger than 130 then cone drill the face of the jet deeper the cone changes spray from jet some just squirt at a streem if create back pressure the carb will spray mist like a blower setup it's all about gas air mix I've seen old air compressor head on exost valves than air fitting ran hose into carb to help create gas pressure and air mix helped motor burn cleaner and run cooler and it was old motor sped up points contact it was faster hear is picture of the head on old air compresor

Hey, how about the VM 22 knock offs that say Miki on it? Are those do those worth the same as this one. Also one more important question where do I get the Jets for it as far as the pilot goes I have jets for it, but I cannot find pilot jets for this carburetor. I looked all over Amazon everywhere and I can’t find it.

it is easy to find main jets ,but pilot jets are a different story . my only complaint about the vm22 clones ,is the pilot jets are a different styles and hard to find . i have 2 carbs both super rich at idle i have ordered jet kits online 2 times and the jets won`t fit

start with the idle kinda high. and set your fuel/air screw one and a half turns MAX from 0. run it and adjust it from there. but in this video i am now realizing i quickly put together the carb and didn’t think too much about the vacuum leak

If you need choke to keep it idling a 130 main jet isn't going to help. Look for a vacuum leak like he said in the video. The main jet doesn't do anything below half throttle.

@@WildKardZ if that is the case the high rpm might be due to a vaccum leak or a rich jetting. Make sure the intake gasket is centered perfectly and tight. You also might need to play around with the setting on the needle. If it goes really high rpm when you pull throttle that could mean it’s too lean as well. It could also be the throttle isn’t fully closing when you let off the throttle

@@taddy656 I did this a couple months ago on a stock 196 and it worked well. Ran the best with a 120 main. You wouldn't want to use a stock 196 muffler. Get a header and muffler for it. I wasn't concerned about the internal governor running less than 5K RPM. I would pull it if I knew I was going to turn more than 6K RPM just to be safe.

The 22 in the VM22 is not the size of the carb, it's the style of the carb. This is a 26mm carb and if you scroll down in the ad, it says it's a 26mm carb. Just to let everyone know, you need to have a fairly built motor to use these carbs and not a stock motor. My dad bought a VM22 kit like this one and he has basically a stock Predator 224 with a mod 1 cam and 22# springs and this carb was just to big for his motor. We couldn't get it tuned for motor and that's when we found out that it was a 26mm and not a 22. Bought a VM22 22mm card for his motor and it runs really good now.

You may have had something else going on for it not to work. I have this carb on a stock 196 with a 224 muffler. Works great.
