WELDING!
More dang welding! I don't even wanna know how many feet of weld I have layed down and ground off. Today we finish welding in the 1 piece floor and move on to the only unfinished part of the car...
The trunk.
The trunk and wheel tubs have been cut out since I brought the car home. Luckily when I made the deal it came with a set of widened wheel tubs. A little cutting, a little grinding and we got the widened wheel tubs stuffed in. With the leaf springs re-located a HUGE rear will fit under this hotrod.

If everyone subscribed and thumbs up on the videos there may have been enough funds for paint. Quiet being forgetful people, push that like button. To be honest I'm falling in love with the surf green color because of this car. It's coming together better than a Bob Ross painting.

It would be nice if he didn't go with the patina thingy. I know that body work is very time consuming and people will nit pick of the smallest imperfections. Maybe if he traded off some work with a decent body shop/ person as this 57 definitely deserves better than that clear coat over and patina thing.

WTG Dan getting past the big welding hurdle, you deserve a change of scenery and jobs. Clear coating moss might not work out as planned due to different expansion/contraction rates from temperature changes between the two coatings which will flake away from the sun, wind and precipitation. The car itself now looks solid and worthy of someone's devotion which is a huge leap from the parts bin you brought home. Congratulations on rescuing another nearly scrapped tri-five, the cars you build today will become treasures that will most likely outlive you as cherished centerpieces for future enthusiasts. The folks who will eventually end up with your cars will have your excellent episodes about their car to show the work done that I think would be extra cool.

Guess I’m old…was in my mid/late twenties before I had a car without some part of it being in primer. Lots of friends had the same primer issues back in the day. BUT we still washed the car, primer and paint! Admittedly did not have to wash it as often as a shiny paint job, but nothing was growing on them either…

I disagree, I think that DD speed shop should trade off some work with a body shop/ person. I rather have a ride in primer or mat than this ugly pentena thing that is getting old. I know that body work is frustrating and people will knit pick the smallest imperfections yet his tractor paint tri-5 came out looking decent going down the road. Sorry DD Speed Shop not disrespect yet this 57 deserves better. Keep up the great work and let the lovely comments commence from my comment. Lol .Keep your rubber on the road and your tac in the black. Peace

@DDSpeedShop You should rebuild that 283 you've got like this guy's (power pak heads etc.) and put it in the NewmaDD , it's closer to what would've been done for replacement (blown motor, replace 6 cyl.) In the 60's and 70's !!! And they are solid Strong Motors , some more of my internet 2 cents !!! And the 283 was just GM realizing if we bore & stroke the 265 V8=283 better HP more torque , so it would be closer to period correct !!!

Cool 57. I believe it’s going to be more solid than your other three. Good job on the mechanical, rust removal and patching as usual. Pin striping would give it the finished look before the matte clear. The old fashioned design type. It’s nice to stand back at the end of the day and admire what you have accomplished. With the welding it’s not as gratifying. Bummer but next stage is gratification work. Another tri five saved from the crusher. 👍
