Thanks you for the video! But right before I attempted your fix, I saw the comment about MB extending the warranty on the Intake Assembly to 15 years/150K miles. I contacted the dealership (who claimed to know nothing about it) who forwarded me to MB customer care who VERIFIED the extended warranty for me and then informed my dealership. So I just got back my 2018 GLC 300 that had this very problem after MB did the entire repair under warranty.. It was a good feeling knowing someone else had the joy of doing the repair AND it will still be covered until 2033 . So before doing this I suggest you contact MB and find out if your vehicle is covered. Key words are "Intake Assembly" extended warranty. Do NOT say PCV valve failure..

Lucky you. My MB dealership 🤡 spent a year trying to figure out why my engine light kept coming back on, and my acceleration was poor. I spent $3000 for them to diagnose, replace the coils, and replace the plugs and Turbo solenoid valve. I drove for a year with this problem. When they could have referred to the bulletin, I took it to another dealership, and when I told them the symptoms, they immediately said it was the Valve kit. Apparently, all the MB gas vehicles suffer from a Valve Kit issue. It's known in the industry. There's a warranty recall on this.

Thanks for sharing the information. sent my car to a dealership in VA, first they declined the warranty and said issue caused by valve crankcase was not covered. I had to show them the letter I received. Finally they confirmed it's covered by extended warranty after internal discussion with their manager otherwise I would be charged for $2900. Just FYI. before going to the dealership, I used a cheap OBDII reader to check and found a P052E error (Positive Crankcase - ventilation regulator valve performance). you are good to go if you got the same error code

Great easy to follow video and extremely valuable comment section. I just called my MB dealer and they said my 2016 glc300 is covered under the 15/150000 extended warranty for this repair. I have a Metris with same exact engine both dealer and MB said my VIN# doesn't show up on the newer extended warrantee. But I was told to fight hard that it should be from a rep of my code reader app. He did say it may take a lot to get them to do it. So I'm just going to try. Metris seems to be less parts to move around to do what this video shows. I hope.

I’m a benz tech, had no idea these come separate from the whole oil separator, this job pays 3-4 hrs warranty and I get them done in about a hour. Ac compressor doesn’t have to be removed just remove belt and all the bolts besides the bottom mounting screw for compressor then swing it out of the way to get the front bolts on the side of the cylinder case. Use a floor jack or at stand .. remove ds engine mount then engine leg. You can put a block of wood under the engine some where to hold it there if not it won’t sag much. Then after that you can get at the whole assembly. I’m happy to know you can just replace the valve because when we do it we have to replace the valve, intake pipe on the turbo and oil separator all as one which really isn’t necessary. I figure I can offer this cheaper repair that you do to customers on the side(I obviously can’t do this in the dealer unless approved by MB) this would really take me 10minutes

There is a lot of mixed information in the comments. To be clear, Mercedes issued a 15year/150k mile extended warranty, which ever comes first. The requirement is that your check engine light needs to be on and showing a P052E fault code. It doesn’t matter if you have an extended warranty or not. It’s issued directly from Mercedes. Everyone with the 4 cylinder turbocharged engine found in various models from 2015 to 2020 is covered by this warranty. It doesn’t matter where you bought it from or if you’re the original owner or not. Take it to the dealer and they will repair it free under warranty. Scan the fault code first before you take it in to the dealer. Make sure you are specifically getting a P052E fault code because if it is something else, you will be charged $280 dollars just for the diagnostic. I hope this answers everyone’s questions and helps to clear everything up. Have a nice day.

Hopefully I will hear back from my post. I have the P052E code and a number of other recall notices for my 2016 Metris Cargo van. I scheduled the appointment for the recalls and to diagnose the PCV valve code. They told me it's not showing up as being covered for the P052E code. I told them their is an extended warrantee added for this code and that it should be covered now. He said to call this number for MB customer service and they'll check in more detail, but it's not showing up as covered in his system. After calling that number and giving my information the lady checking on coverage said my Metris is not covered. I've research online for extended warrantees for the crankcase ventilation system problem and haven't had much luck finding any absolute answers for my Van. I see some information that shows other MB vehicles but not for a Metris. When you contact this site and call them, BlueTecUpdate.mbusa.com with any questions, or contact us at 1-833-841-9362, the automated message mentions the MB Sprint having the problem warrantee coverage, but no mention of Metris. But I would imagine this is a problem across the board for all 4 cylinder turbocharged engines of those year models which is mine. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I've spent 20 hours watching videos to repair and researching warrantee info. I was hoping MB customer service would have a solution for me, but the woman on the phone sounds like she was going by a script as do most conversation by phone go these days.

I can confirm the comment back 2 months ago...MZ will cover this for free. They sent out letters to all owners with your VIN # on letter. The envelope was labeled "Extended Warranty Addendum". The extended warranty for the error code for faulty crankcase ventilation valve covers a wide range of models 2015-2020, C,-Class, E, GLC, SLC, etc. Covers 15 years/150,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Google the letter that Mercedes put out Aug-Sept 2023 of you cannot find yours and take it to a dealer. I believe the NHTSA also shared a memo on it. Mercedes will cover this for free. As well as other recalls or extended warranty that your vehicle has not been serviced for. If you already paid for service at a MZ dealer or purchased parts from them, you may be eligible for reimbursement. See details in letter. Hope this helps someone as it was a life saver for me!

Yes there is. I have a Metris same engine. Dealer said it's not covered for me. So I called main Customer Service and they asked me for my VIN # to see if my Metris was covered and also said NO. I talked with an customer service guy from my code reader app documentation which says it should be covered. He said the the dealers don't want to do the job because they have to go through a lot to get reimbursed by MB. After talking to 2 customer service reps on phone I gave up. So I'm going to try to replace the same part myself. My engine layout is different than this video, but still a royal pain to get to. But I think I can do something similar to what he did here. Also the guy from my code reader app said you got to really bother them at MB customer service and to go as far to ask for a supervisor and maybe that would help. I don't know why my MB Metris VIN # doesn't come up when they search. They mention a bunch of MB models that do though. So maybe yours will.

@@patlab That sucks. I don't get why the same engine on all these models aren't covered since they all seem to have the same problems at around 70K mi. Must have been some law suit that only mentions certain models that made the EPA make MB fix them. Idk. I did my repair yesterday. It was much easier to do on my Metris than what this video shows for his car. I could do it again in an hour now that I know. This video shows way more parts to be move than what I had to do. Still a tight area to work in but doable. Good luck. In case you're not aware. I believe it's the oil vapor that cause the PCV to go bad. Probably gets stuck from the oil buildup after years. There's another part called the "Oil drip pan/breather port" that the seals dry out and/or enlarge by the passenger side firewall that causes the oil to go to the PCV and should get replaced and checked every so often. Eventually if the oil builds up in the intake everything starts to go. My Metris is different and I'm having trouble finding more on how it's design, but it seems all the other models with this engine have those other 2 parts that are the main cause of the E0271 code/engine light issue.

Can you use this on a Metris?
@bertpainter83852 ай бұрын
I'm going to try it today or tomorrow and see how it goes. I did look into it and move some parts aside to see if I could get to it more easily on the Metris, but that one hard plastic hose going underneath I guess to what he said in this video, is the intake manifold (I couldn't see down under there very well) would come off for me. It feels like a push on rubber connector (no clamp) like a spark plug has. I didn't want to go after it with much force because I was just inspecting the job to see what's involved on the Metris, so it might just pop off. If it does pop off I think it will be a much easier removal than what this video shows. Still have to adapt the new part to fit the existing connections. I'll repost here afterwards. I posted a message of the most recent post by lenclayton100 about calling MB customer service to see if it's covered under the extended warrantee MB had to oblige in 2023. They looked up my VIN # and said no, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got the right person on the phone it may actually be. It's the same damn engine as all the other models that are covered and it's an EPA infraction that made them put it under the warrantee in 23'. I was told you have to fight hard to get both the dealership and customer service to fix it under that newer extended warrantee.
@bertpainter83852 ай бұрын
Update after finished replacing part. It wasn't hard at all on the Metris. You don't have to move much except for the air filter bracket (3 screws) and the Coolant overflow container (2 screws). Both just have to be moved aside not disconnected. It's still tight to remove the same part he shows. The tube line he mentioned that is made of plastic and kinked on him is the part that was iffy. Only because I didn't know if I made that cut if I'd ruin the part if I was wrong. But now that it's done I could do it again in about 1 to 2 hours at most. An hour if I was young again. lol. I left the plastic line connect and reused that hose. I cut that hose just at the bib of the old part. Cut off the same plastic tube on the new part completely off right up until the barbed connection and used the rubber coupling connector that comes with the new part to splice them together. It's pretty simple once you know you aren't going to screw it up. There was an awful lot of oil on the electrical connection line. I believe that's the reason for why the part causes a code. I'm going to try to test the voltage and see if it what it does. Supposedly you can blow into it when activated it opens when no charge it's closed or maybe reversed. Have to read about that part again. I'll test before cleaning all the oil and then after trying to clean the oil on the old part just to see if it will work. I also watched a view videos with the MB C300, C350 etc. And the reason for all the oil seems to be due to the Oil drip pan and breather. one Video here but not for the Metris. Have to do more searching for the Metris repair. It's not in the same place that that I can see. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWXJp2OflLSbhck
