Finally, a process I can wrap my brain around. Thanks Regular Guy & Assistants. This is way easier than tryin' to learn how to design one on a 3D Printer. Those Tech Wizards confuse the heck out of me. God Bless You for sharing Your killer method!

So i don't know how i got here but this was interesting to Watch. I didn't see you mention what the melted plastic was, or where you got it. Also the aluminum tube you used, what is that exactly? Also love the assistance gremlin. Mine are too old to do this stuff
@RegularGuyLures Жыл бұрын
Thank you for tuning in, I hope you come back soon. I use plastisol and recycle old soft plastic lures (A.K.A. rubber worms). I melt the plastisol in a glass measuring cup in an old microwave (Don't use the one in your home!). The aluminum tube that I use for the injection is a purpose built tool for soft plastic injection. Below are the Amazon links for the plastisol and the soft plastic injector. Thank you so much for the questions and the interest. You can use the second mold part and use it as the "first" one! Then make the new second one, so that part will also be very detaled.😊 and for the runner.....(wooden fish?) You can use also a silicone bait.(plastisol) makes life more easy getting it out. That's how i do it.. greetz from the Netherlands

Good try well worth it. So how do we paint? How do we get all the petrolium gel off so the paint sticks
@RegularGuyLures11 ай бұрын
Thank you for the questions. So, the petroleum jelly comes off with the soft plastic. If there is any left off the mold I just wipe it off. As far as painting a mold release on it, I use fast drying polyurethane. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask away in the comments. Thank you for the support. kzbin.infoKSd9rm1cYlg

I was subscriber 546. Glad to help your count grow. Glad you're putting out a cheapskate way of doing expensive stuff. Just wandering, how long do you wait for these kinda molds to cool after injection??? As a kid I'd make wooden lures from whatever was handy. My friends gave me a ribbing for being cheap , but I just wanted to see what worked. Also would take hardwood, and a router , n cut grooves to make plastic worms. 40 years ago you had use broken worms to make new ones. The companies who made plastics were determined to keep it a secret for as long as possible. I wrote all of them I could to get a resource for plastics. Some sent nastygrams back as a response.

First off, thank you so much for the support. I truly appreciate it. Yeah, my father and I used re-melts exclusively for years. In reference to the cooling question, generally if the top of the sprue is no longer liquid and cool enough to touch, then the rest of the mold should be cool enough. However, mold size, the initial temperature of the injected material, as well as the mold itself, all play a factor on how long it takes for the mold to cool. Please feel free to ask questions anytime. Stay Regular!

Could using the Vaseline first cause problems with the permanent release paint’s later adherence?
@RegularGuyLures10 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I haven’t had any issues with that, because the plastisol usually takes it right out of the mold for you. You Stay Regular!
