If you put a rubber band around the head and use it to pull the camera instead of pushing, you'll get an even smoother slide!

Got this one last week. Only had the chance to test it on one shoot, but so far I'm content. Just make sure, as he said, to loosen the screw all the way, and to have a steady tripod if you plan on mounting it on one. If it's not, the slider will tilt when your camera is not in the center and that creates weird movement with the footage.

Excellent. I bought a friction slider before Neewer made these bearing versions more affordable. The friction slider was a real let down, almost impossible to get a smooth slide. I’ll be switching it out for one of these.
@lukas_18746 жыл бұрын
I own this slider too and couldn't agree more. After some time I got some wiggle between the tube and the sliding thing... Simply put some tape on the rails and it works just as good as it used to
@alfonsomontesdeoca62845 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate how did you do this? I'm facing the same issue, the sliding platform wiggles because of the weight of my DSLR and lens. Did you covered all of the tubes with tape? Is it any kind of tape?

As someone who got the longest version of the slider, I would recommend getting the shortest version. It costs less, is easier to transport, and is more than enough for most shoots. I’m probably going to trim the carbon rods on my slider to make it smaller … Good video, btw, Darious 😉

As an amateur just getting into videoing i've chanced upon sliders and have been going round in circles with online research and your comment spoke to me as i usually go for the item that means i don't have to upgrade later but it sounds like you're going the opposite direction ? Is motorized also an option to consider do you think ?

Yeah I got one like this one. And as you said a bit of practice and you good to go.... Only one think I don't like. When on tripod, mounted in the middle, the rods bends little bit, which you can see on shots. Hope lighter camera what I want to get will help also.

I have the zecti, exact same product with a different name slapped on it. I find it a little upsetting you can not increase resistance and still get a smooth slide. But hey! you get what you pay for. Better off just buying a motorized slider anyways.

Yo, I bought this exact slider about 2 months ago. It's actually really good for the price! I got the 50cm one, and it's worked great. It works perfectly, and I had no problem with the screw on the side, I only have to unscrew it a few rounds to get it to move freely (mentioned in video). Overall, it's a great beginner/budget slider.

Here's a tip for connectors and bits and bobs, like tripod heads and adapters for mounting gear - if you can, find the most old fashioned camera store in your area and ask if they have a 'junk pile' or 'bits box' that you can go through - some of that old film camera stuff is waay useful for just testing out ideas and lets you experiment on the cheap. I have old kit from the 70's and 80's that let me decide if i really needed a new gadget. Saved me loads of money.

Question. Why do you need a slider? Can't the shots be achieved through a gimbal with slow movements?
@D4Darious6 жыл бұрын
You get more precise, repeatable movements with a slider. Some shots you'd need a slider for and others you'd need a gimbal for. It all depends.

@alfonsomontesdeoca62845 жыл бұрын
The slider is cool but I'm facing an issue: the sliding platform wiggles against the tube rails because of the weight of my DSLR and lens (they are not that heavy, its a Pentax K3 coupled with a 24mm Samyang). If I press the side of the sliding platform that is opposite to the lens, it pushes the camera upwards. This makes it really difficult to create smooth shots when moving slowly, because it wiggles and feels bumpy, not smooth as butter =(. Do you have any suggestions in this scenario?

This is way off topic, but theres a shot in a short film im planning that is going to be nigh impossible to do. Darkness, in heavy rainfall under a lampost. sounds dumb but, do i literally just have to wait for it to start raining at night run out and shoot it? I live in a very....questionable area so leaving a camera rolling with me on scene is pretty dodgy. So i was wondering is there a way of doing this shot, on my own and make it work? Without waiting for rain cos......i live in England. the weather is as predictable as the Joker.
@yawningmarmot6 жыл бұрын
You can imitate rain with a hose and a shower head and imitate nighttime with lighting/colorgrade. No need to put yourself at risk. Also, think about protecting the camera against water with a rainproof case of sorts.
