After building a few rifles for myself and seeing the cost of parts firsthand, I realized what good deals guys like you give your customers! And, you are going above and beyond with your builds. Much respect!

Dear Sir - thank you. TRUE custom rifles, built properly, are actually one of the best "deals" out there.

Can't tell you how much I appreciate this video, and your artistry. I have watched several of your vids with fascination and a growing desire to buy a MQM gun that will be an heirloom. I've been shooting my entire life but have only recently begun to learn about the craftmanship that goes into making a rifle - I had no idea what made a custom gun tick until this video. Minimum spec chamber, neck size, etc., etc. I am finally beginning to understand (only beginning) why your guns are so damned accurate. Thank you, sir. PS - please don't take this the wrong way but I hope you continue to build these works of art until I can scrape together enough money - I really want one of those 7mm Rem Mags.

I agree on small chambers. Over 20 years ago I ordered an HS Precision rifle built on my stainless Remington 700 action and told them I wanted it chambered to "absolute minimum SAAMI spec". I could not afford even your "cheap" custom rifle so in 2019 I bought a 6.5 PRC Browning X-bolt Pro. CF stock, stainless barrel and action, factory lapped barrel, fluted barrel, bolt and bolt handle, burnt bronze Cerakote on metal and stock, decent 2 lb, 7 oz. trigger. It's what Browning calls their "Semi-Custom" rifle and it's their top of the line model. I get 1/2" to 3/4" 100 yard groups with Hornady MATCH (ELD-M) and Precision Hunter (ELD-X) ammo respectively. It's my "mountain rifle" for hunting here in Nevada.

Dear Sir - if it does the job and you are satisfied - mission accomplished.

That's why the "other" custom shops charge $7000 + for the same work....and "we" the end user should expect to pay $7000+ for such quality....Everyone who takes that much care and pride of craftsmanship in their product deserves to be properly compensated....Raise your prices!! People who don't want pay it can buy lesser quality.... I may never be able to afford a $7000+ custom rifle but I for dang sure expect to get what I pay for....

Don’t really see how wanting a quote is a negative thing. Personally, I like to know how much money something is going to cost me regardless of how much $ is in my bank account.
@quarterminutemagnums Жыл бұрын
Dear Sir - how do you "quote" numerous unknown factors? Will it take one barrel or five? One hundred hours of labor or two hundred? Will it take one testing session or three? Will we travel 50 miles to test or 300? Is it not enough to KNOW that someone is treating YOUR money with as much respect and frugality as their own? Thanks..................

Also chambering and threading a barrel adds about $200. to the cost of a custom barrel over the cost of the barrel blank if you buy a custom barrel pre-chambered and threaded.

This video is 2 yrs old. If your still in business, I'd almost be surprised. I really hope you have raised your prices. Your business is your own, but geez... Gun Werks is almost almost twice as much as your pricing. What your doing is just bad business. I'd rather stay home and not work, rather then working for free. But your business, foolish as it is, is your own.

.Here is my take away. Don't ask me for a quote because I do this for $5hr. If you was not making money you would not be doing it. Here is the deal guys. Wow what a bunch of generalized nonsense. Why would someone want a SAAMI spec chamber? I don't know maybe they're traveling with the rifle hunting and if anything happens they want to be able to buy ammo and shoot it. Why wouldn't you want minimum spec chambers? Possibly because people who actually shoot know nothing is ever perfect. Great I've got a zero spec chamber but I'm hunting and it's dusty and dirty now my brass won't fit my chamber. The problem with your video is in your attempt to build yourself up while you're putting down some of the best smiths in the world. Those smiths know your ideas are great in thought but fail in practice. I'll tell you now as a customer I don't want your bore guide (I can pull my barrel and clean it off the action), I don't want your muzzle cover(I'll lose it in 5min), and I don't want your minimum spec chamber. Why are you doing cryo before chambering a already stress relieved barrel? Why are your spending by your own estimate 2.5+ weeks to build a rifle? There is not a smith worth his salt in the nation that takes that long to build a rifle. There is a place for your ideas, and that's in benchrest. The rest of us will be shooting for fun, or hunting, or any other number of competitions where a minimum spec chamber will leave us kicking rocks and blowing snot bubbles. Also there are many rifle builders making a good living smithing, the difference is they build rifles that work and are accurate. They aren't spending time telling everyone why they are better than their competition, they're letting the work do the talking.

Dear Sir - if it is not perfect what is the point?

@Michael Neely Dear Sir - at the very apex of Precision Shooting Magazine's readership, there were only 14,000 subscribers in the whole world. Extreme accuracy and all it entails is not for everyone.
