FYI I have found it much easier and more consistent to put the electrical tape on the inside of the Butler Creek just to add some friction. Instead of taping the NVG
@Gooberz7102 жыл бұрын
How you managed to get electrical tape even cut in half inside of the cap with the aperture is beyond me. Please make a video showing how you did this because I want to still be able to adjust my objective lens and not have it taped over…

Fun fact if you buy the m32 m37 Iris it just twist no need for the lever and the Butler Creek cap fits directly over that with no tape. No dremel work needed

I wonder if you could glue the adjustable iris to the flip up lid? That way you could flip it out of the way when you need full light. The adjustable iris looks a little smaller than the full pvs14 lense. I bought the parts you linked, when they get here I'm gonna look at it. Thanks for the video

Lovely. Would be interesting to see a similar option with an epoxy magnifying lens. Don't get the stuff on your skin though and don't breathe the fumes - stir in a place with lots of airflow and a particle mask.

Definitely want to use callipers or be exact on where you’re cutting it especially if you end up using a sacrificial lens in front of the aperture instead of one of the screw in sacrificial lens behind the aperture. Figured the objective lens would be sealed off from the elements and dust/debris a bit better with a screw on sacrificial lens behind the aperture. Already ordered some more butler creek caps because I botched the fuck out of the first one though. So just be careful. I know the flip cap is only $8.99 on some sites, but still sucks to not have an extra in case you fuck up…. PS they’re constantly going out of stock and went from $9 to $13 and some change on Amazon haha wonder why

Looking these up, so help me out here gents: these are basically aperture devices that allow you to have a shorter length of focus and therefore allow you to see much clearer with nightvision on, correct?

Does this reduce the overall lense size enough to lower the light gathering and fov on the pvs14? It doesn't look like the iris opens up to the full size of the pvs14 lense.
@LarpingSupply2 жыл бұрын
Correct but it’s negligible and easily reversed by simply removing them

@nikkobrown4213 жыл бұрын
Sucks you'll be giving up slight light transmission no matter what, I wanna see a version where the actual iris flips up so you gain the entire objective lense, with your mod even the mat block tarsiers you lose like almost a quarter inch of the outer edge of the objective lense, while some might say who cares, that might make or break you seeing something in a no ambient light place , gonna need all the gain you can get
@berkharbin66423 жыл бұрын
You could probably modify it to mount the iris in the flip cap with a little 3D printing.
