My problem now is that if I stay in this space my booth can only be 82cm x 95cm. My question is, although small will it affect the sound negatively being so small? Or, should I build a bigger booth to go into an untreated bedroom? Thanks

Quick Question: Does it matter if I use SDR-26 PVC pipe or Schedule 40? SDR-26 is less expensive than Schedule 40, but I don't want to purchase it unless I know it will serve the same purpose. Anyone? Bueller?
@Vocalboothtogo2 жыл бұрын
Bueller took a day off. :) I am not sure how SDR-26 will behave. I think you can test it. From what I know "26" means that the thickness of the wall is 26 times less than diameter. I think the smallest diameter of the SDR-26 is 1.5 inches with wall thickness of 0.09 inches. That seems thin to me. On the other hand you need the connectors. Do you have the connectors?

Not sure I understand: are they falling AFTER you assemble it or IN THE PROCESS? If it is After, then you need to glue them together. If it us in the process, then you also need to glue them together. The steps are: 1) Assemble the base without glue, make sure all parts are correct. The T and L connectors are facing up. 2) pull the parts one by one, glue and fit back together. No rush. The glue will catch within seconds. 3) assemble and glue the top the same way. 4) connect verticals. 5).place the too rectangle on top of the vertical posts It should work.

We actually making a video to answer that exact . In reality you do not have to glue it. Iy just makes the structure prone to collapse if you do not push the connectors all the way in. Hello. This was a demo video . That is why we did not use glue. We did show at one point how to use it. Is the glue compulsory? I should probably put together a video of cutouts to show what happens when the frame is not glued together. It just falls apart when you try to hang blankets on it. Once you glue parts together you will not be able to take them apart. The pipe cutter? We actually used a saw to cut the pipes. It is much faster. Hack saw or jigsaw work well. If you are thinking of disasembling the frame i suggest to only glue the top and base frames and se duct tape to secure vertical supports.

is this okay if my enviroment is noisy outside? my room picks up vehicle sounds
@JohnScottB4 жыл бұрын
This will not help much at all with that. The blankets provide sound absorbtion, not sound proofing. This will only help elimante echo inside the room but won't help sound from getting out or in. I hope that helps.

Where do you place the mic stand/boom at? Has anyone experienced feeding through the roof? I just built this. Great design and glad that you can expand it if needed in the future. I likely will as it is snug. I was able to make it a little bigger with the same materials using math. Even so, I am trying to set up the mic so that the stand’s legs are out of the way. Thanks

what about the pvc glue? how to use it?
@Vocalboothtogo3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the brand of glue you get. Some have primer and glue and some are primer and glue together. If you use the first option then apply the primer on the parts that supposed to be glued first. This removes any dirt and oils. Then apply yhe glue and insert the pipe into connectors. If the glue and primer are all in one, then you only need to apply it one tims and insert.

I'm almost at the point where I'm buying this! I'm starting my own voice acting studio at home and my desk is inside a big room with a high ceiling so the option with the PVC pipes and blankets suits me well. Only a few questions: 1. I have consulted with many sound designer friends, they think that for the highs and echo the blankets can do the job but for the lows, it can get messy and my recording could sound "muddy", so without disrespecting, are the blankets to your professional opinion is comparable to a "proper" sound studio with styrofoam/Rockwool and other absorption material on the walls? 2.a Does the size of the booth makes a difference in the sound? 3. I have an idea. When I order, can I request that one blanket (for the celling) will have the grommets on all sides of the blanket so I can attach the ends of the blankets with shower curtain hooks? (so it will be really stretched above it and not loose) 4. I have also an idea to make a "door" and in the entrance to just glue some magnets so it will be kind of closed. What do you think about it?

how do you handle suffocation .../ ventilation ?
@internetuser86074 жыл бұрын
You hope for the best
@Vocalboothtogo4 жыл бұрын
Very funny! :) there is no risk of suffocation there because the blankets are not air tight For acoustic blankets to absorb sound they have to allow the sound to get in. You can actually breath right through the blanket. It does het warm in there though. So we offer a quiet ventilation fan on our site: www.vocalboothtogo.com/product/quiet-ventilation-fan-muffler/ We also have the speed controller. If you reduce the speed the fan becomes practically inaudible.

I've been planning to build a booth according to this video for quite a while, and I'm finally about to pull the trigger on it. I'm a bit concerned about the space inside the booth, and was hoping to make it a bit more spacious to fit a shelf or small table for my laptop and potentially a music stand or something similar from which to read a tablet as I record. In order to give the booth a bit of a bigger "footprint" and make it more spacious inside, I would just have to cut all 7 of the 27" pieces of PVC pipe to be a bit longer, is that correct? Thanks so much for posting the guide!
@Vocalboothtogo4 жыл бұрын
Hello Jamie: we have created a special calculator, that will give you the size of all cuts depending on the final size of your booth. Please see the pinned comment. The center piece should remain the same. 27". It is the shorter pieces near the corners that should ne cut longer. This allows for more even support.

Hello Donavon: which connectors are you talking about? The pipes are just cut to size. Smallest piece is 2 inch long. Fittings are purchased. Are you talking about the corners, where two fittings come very close together? Then it is: fitting + 2 inch pipe + fitting. We have additional videos for different size frames, try to watch those.

@@slicqnick35 That's were the connectors that you make from the 3/4" pipes come in. The ones you cut to short little pieces. You take the short little piece, place it in the 1" connector. Then you are able to connect it to another connector. Make sense?
