Hello everybody, to help you build a custom size frame we created a special calculator for DIY PVC frame: www.vocalboothtogo.com/select-custom-pvc-vocal-booth-frame-calculator/ all you need to do is to enter the size of the frame you want to build and the calculator will show all the cuts and sizes that you need. If you click on " Print instructions" button a new screen will open with detailed instructions how to build your frame. Thank you.

NOTE: Occasionally, we are getting comments about "objectifying women". Because of the customer's image on the thumbnail. It puzzles me why we do not get such objections when we show pictures of other customers. The lady in the thumbnail is our real customer. Why are people onky complaining about her image and not other women or men? Is there discrimination going on? Not sure.

Hi. Is it essential to glue the pipes. The reason I ask is that I am going to have to assemble and then take it down when not using it?
@Vocalboothtogo2 ай бұрын
@kevinstoneham1245 gluing the pipes provides stability of the frame. When we were filming we did ot glue the frame. So we could show different configurations. And the frame would go skew and sometimes collapse. In theory you can use duck tape to secure connections.

@Vocalboothtogo4 жыл бұрын
Hello Drunk panda. Booth like this does not sound boxy because it does not have reflective walls. The walls are absorptive. The recording quality in this booth is excellent. Tip: for better performance do not stick it in the corner of a room allow a foot of airspace between the walls and the booth.

Hi, for the larger version displayed here, what size and amount of blankets would one use for a double layered booth?
@Vocalboothtogo4 жыл бұрын
Hi David: "larger version" may cover a large spectrum of booths. In this video we intentionally did not specify any dimensions, because we wanted to convey the principles of the structure. If you have a specific dimensions in mind, please send us an email. We have a special formula to immediately calculate all sizes of all parts and the quantity of blankets. Thank you. Jeff.

why didn't you just lay the acoustic curtains over the structure in an inverted U shape and avoid all the hassle of hanging them? you can then cross another curtain over and then you have all 4 sides done. wouldn't this work? thanks!
@Vocalboothtogo3 жыл бұрын
Well, yes, that would work. But then you would have to use blankets that are 20 feet long, so they can go from the floor over the top and down to the floor. Side to side. And how can you close front and back? Use a 25 ft blankets? We thought that hanging 80 inch blankets would be more practical.

This is a great DIY solution however being in Canada, there are no suppliers selling the proper blankets and you guys charge $100 for shipping/duty /taxes which brings the order to almost $400 cad for me for just 3 blankets😔Tack on $200 for all the pvc materials, and this became a much more expensive project than I was hoping :( Any possibility of having a Cdn supplier sometime soon? @VocalBoothToGo - thanks!

@@juStb4u How did that turn out? I"m just about to move into a place I can't be belting and playing in and have been pondering over a few different design ideas?
@juStb4u4 жыл бұрын
@@SaurianSoul it works fairly well, though limited space inside - just enough to stand or sit on a stool with a tripod holding my ipad and zoom recorder.... it's not big enough for a desk setup but I'll be switching to a regular condenser mic and will need to bring my laptop in the booth so just trying to figure out the best configuration. The 4 panels themselves are really solid, 6' tall with two on top and provide a noise reduction coefficient of nearly 1.0 which is really high (typically the production blankets are 0.7-0.8). If you have an area that you can tuck something like this into, it's a good option. You could also rework a closet or pvc booth like the one spoken of here and it would work equally as well. My panels were purchased locally from a sound guy in Toronto, but you can surely find someone who makes them anywhere. Hope that helps!

@@juStb4u Thank you for the info! Once I move into my new space I'll have a better handle on how much size I have to play with but I'm planning on something just big enough for myself and a guitar. Maybe you should put big cork sheets on the outside to make it denser but still light. On the inside, you can put acoustic foam or thin styrofoam.
@Vocalboothtogo4 жыл бұрын
I do not see advantages of cork sheets or acoustic foam. The acoustic blankets work great. The booth provide great acoustically treated space as it is. Adding acoustic foam (what thickness) might make it sound boomy. Adding cork panels might make it sound boxy, plus cork is fragile and not cheap. You may of course experiment and show us comparison audio recordings. That would be very interesting to hear.
@ItsExotic_YT4 жыл бұрын
@@Vocalboothtogo I don't actually have a whole lot of real-life experience with soundproofing or acoustic treatment. All I was getting at is that cork is already known to help acoustics and soundproofing and since it is denser and has more mass than blankets, I thought that having cork sheets and acoustic foam would resemble the logistics of a real sound booth. I was thinking around 2 inch thick foam, standard stuff. By the way, I didn't really think I'd get a reply so thank you. Also, I have never seen a cork booth before and would've liked to see it here. Thanks!

But after publishing the video we started getting requests to produce the kits. Being a "yes"- person, i said : OK , we'll do it. This is how it became a product. Your treatment suggestions about the cork and the acoustic foam are valid, provided, that there is no better option.
