I grew up in asparagus country (cue the stinky jokes), and the season here starts in April. It's amazing how much food we can get from around the world. Anyhoo, to get all of the woody part off the bottom, you hold stalk woody side up, with one hand in the middle and one on the woody end. Bend the woody end towards you, and it will snap off at the right spot, leaving you with all edible stuff. I love them steamed or grilled or tempura style. Yum!

Cottage cheese or farmers cheese are traditional filling with potatoes for pirogi, also sauerkraut with or without sauerkraut with finely bacon and onions. Brown the sauerkraut to enhance the flavor. You can also use things like stewed and finely diced dried fruits for desert. Baba had many ways with pirogi.

This video came to me on the perfect day. I have a smoked sausage in my fridge I need to cook tonight, but I didn't want my usual 2 go to smoked sausage dinners. The sheet pan meal is one of my normal 2. Sometimes I use green bean instead of broccoli. Apsaragus is one of the 2 veggies I will not eat, but I know other people love it. The other go to is sausage & pasta with parmesan cheese. I usually add broccoli to that dish, but sometimes I'll do zuccini or California blend depending on what I have. I've been watching you for several years. I was sad to hear about your kitty. I couldn't finish watching the video when said he passed.

I have a little 1.5 liter electric pressure cooker that I now use for almost every meal. It has a brown, a slow cook a low pressure and a high pressure button. I highly recommend. I can saute my veggies on the brown function. It cooks rice in 8 minutes on low pressure. I love that you use animal fat. This looks like a bacon fat dish to me.

Definitely am going to have to try this. I’ll need to check and see what the actual package is still running at Walmart since their prices have gone up but they would have a 3.5 pound pack of smoked sausages over by the hotdogs the bar S brand I know it’s cheap but it’s the kind I get because my kids absolutely love them. I think there’s 20 links in one pack last time I seen it was four dollars for the pack. I’m hoping it’s the same way if it is, I am definitely making this meal. Thank you so much For this video. Absolutely think it’s a fantastic idea and I have everything in stock just about to do so love it.

Lisa can you remind me where you got your red pan with the lid? Is it enameled cast iron? I’m trying to decide between a cast iron or an enameled one. Need advice! lol
@ThatLisaDawnАй бұрын
It is enameled cast iron and it's Crofton which is Aldi's in house brand. They only sell them a few times a year but it looks like next week is one of the weeks they will be carrying them (and they can go quick). They aren't as good a quality as something like Le Creuset or Staub, but I've had mine for 2 or 3 years now and for the price I paid I love it. I also heavily use my regular cast iron though, personally both are staples in my kitchen. I prefer searing meats and sautéing veggies in a regular cast iron pan, but I prefer the enameled cast iron for rice dishes, some sauces, soupier dishes, rolls, and anything I need a good heavy lid for. Either can go in the oven which is a major plus.
