Great review; I saw these on sale, located your video, purchased them, and set the system up. I'm getting great speeds, 330mbps, and my perimeter security cameras show excellent signal strength.

Interesting that the second gen might be less reliable... Of course, it depends on your location, your particular home's structure, neighbors wifi, etc. Do you find it less reliable than your previous router?

Have you heard of any problems connecting a ps4 to the orbi wifi? We also still have a ps3 we would need to connect to it as well. Right now we just have a centurylink modem and all devices run off that wifi.
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
I have a PS4, but I have connected it with an ethernet cable since it lives in the same area as my modem and router. That said, I can't imagine there would be any issue connecting it wirelessly. I have lots of wireless devices and none of them has had any issues connecting. You should be good to go!

@@paulnunez2210 THey do work, but the speed is significantly slower. I just installed a hardline to the room and the Mesh works at about 1/3 of the speed, I have Gig speed from Spectrum so about 890 MBPS on the Cat 5 and 220 MBPS through the Orbis...

When you set up this mesh system, you are creating a new WiFi network. You would need to connect all your devices to this new network, but if you want to keep your old WiFi network name and password, set up the new network with those settings, and then turn off the old network when you turn on the new one. Devices should connect to the new one if you've set it up identically to the old one.

I have a Netgear nighthawk ac1200 modem/router. How can I use this to set up the Orbi system I just got from Wal=Mart?
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the Nighthawk AC 1200, but that sounds like a standalone router, while the Orbi is a Mesh system. The Orbi will probably replace the AC 1200 completely. I would start by setting up the Orbi and powering off the AC 1200. I bet the Orbi does all you need without the AC 1200.

can I use these with my existing netgear nighthawk x4?
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
No, most likely not. The X4 doesn't appear to be a mesh system, it's a stand-alone router. I haven't tested it, but I'm 99.9999% sure it wouldn't support a WiFi mesh.

moving around without a constant internet is definitely a deal breaker for me. Tri band is always a safe option even if you have to dish out 100 bucks extra for it. Router is a long term investment so do it right.

Does latency degrade much when using these satelites?
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! No, latency doesn't change noticeably. Everything works smoothly whether you're connected to the router or the satellites.
@ArnoldGaming
@ArnoldGaming 3 жыл бұрын
The latency is either a bit less, the same, or a bit more than what you get in the main router so latency wouldnt degrade

Great for the money but agree its not streamline as can lose connection in-between satellites, also I'm looking to add a few extra satellites to my property and cant seem to find anywhere you can buy satellites individually. I have to now buy the same system again essentially. Apparently the tp link deco system is much better in the way each unit can either be used as a satellite or router, where orbi router is either a router or AP

Could I use my NETGEAR Nighthawk EX7300 WiFi Range Extender with this?
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 2 жыл бұрын
Without researching, I would say you probably technically can, like you could connect it and make it work, but you wouldn't want/need to. This system should cover your entire space, and to extend it's coverage you would add more satellites. It was not intended to be used with separate range extenders. So I wouldn't try to use the extender, just use this system.
@evanraymond7888
@evanraymond7888 2 жыл бұрын
@@isitgoodreviews4095 Ah alright, was just asking since the satellite/extender that comes with the Orbi’s don’t have an Ethernet port, the Nighthawk EX7300 does, and my router isn’t close enough to my PS5 for a wired connection without having an Ethernet cable running throughout most of my house (That’s not really an option in my environment)
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 2 жыл бұрын
In your case then you may want to try, but if you are connecting your extender to your wireless network and then connecting Ethernet from the extender to the PS5, you would probably be better off just connecting the PS5 directly to your wireless network. I believe it supports wireless networking natively.

1. What is your garage internet speed just getting signal from your 1st satellite vs internet speed of set up 2nd satellite in your garage? 2. As signal will drop 20% to 50% on 2nd Satellite, will it better to get a 2 pack Wifi6 instead of 3 pack Wifi5 to receive signal at your garage?
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching! In my situation, only one satellite will not allow the range I need. If I placed a single satellite in the garage it would not connect to the router at all. I need the daisy chain to reach the garage, so the two satellites were a must.

I am trying to find a way to get wifi from my house to my detached garage. The garage is 90 feet from the back of my house. Do you think this system could successfully get a signal from the front of my house to my kitchen with a satellite (approximately 35 feet) to my detached garage (90 feet from kitchen) using a daisy chain? Thanks!
@isitgoodreviews4095
@isitgoodreviews4095 3 жыл бұрын
35 feet, probably yes. 90 feet, doubtful. It would depend on the barriers between the satellites, walls will degrade signal. I would try it but only if I could return the device no questions asked. Ultimately at that distance you might do better burying a plenum (outdoor rated) Cat6 or better Ethernet cable and running a wired extension to a wireless range extender. amzn.to/39sdsXk
