Fantastic video Richard, thanks for doing the testing that so many people would think doesn't need to be done!! FWIW, my prediction is that the intercooler will lose power in this application. Can't wait to see!
@hayden6056 Жыл бұрын
What's your logic behind the loss of power?
@tptrsn Жыл бұрын
@@hayden6056 My rationale is that the charge temperature isn't very high without the intercooler, because the boost is quite low. Therefore, I don't think the intake charge temp is causing a lot of problems with power. Add to that the idea that the the blower is completely tapped out from being able to pump any more air, and the intercooler will impede air flow a bit, thus reducing cylinder pressure even further. On top of that, the charge cooling will reduce cylinder pressure even more because of the ideal gas law. If all of that speculation is correct, the question is whether the cooler and denser charge quality will make more power than the reduced cylinder pressure loses. My guess is that it won't. It'll be fun to find out! :)

This is interesting, but we're really into the realm of silliness now. This blower is hopelessly undersized, when you spin the thing at close to 20,000 rpm and only gain about 50 hp you're pretty much pissing in the wind. True, it picked up a bunch of torque down low, but only gained 50 hp up top. I wonder how much power you could "make" with an m90 if you put it on a 15:1 572? It might restrict it bad enough to choke 500 hp off, but it would set a new record for m90 power.
