It's illegal to use Saleae's S/W on these knock-off clones from the east. The firmware on these clones are likewise pirated. If you're going to buy these, at least use open source firmware and software like sigrok.

So I bought these and the seller had links to the software. Nowhere did I see anything about it being pirated or illegal. If you know of an open source solution please share the links and I will amend the video to include these solutions. That way we can enlighten each other.

If he's making money from it it's very little harm. I think that companies actually like home users to get to know their products. Did you hear how WinRar makes money?
