Yellow Jackets aren't bees. They are very aggressive small wasps and the stings can cause issues from months. Poor Scott. Ice and antihistamines for the stings I think we all envy you your children always hanging out and helping you. You did a good job raising them

40 years ago, when I worked in the Supply room, ER called for a container of Accent... yep, they used it as a paste on yellow jacket and bee stings.. go figure.

That lunch looked really really good. I try to use almost all homemade food and not processed but one of my guilty pleasures from my childhood is tater tots and I seem to keep a bag in the back of the freezer because one of my all-time favorite meals is sloppy joes tater tots and some coleslaw. I know part of it's not good for me but really it's not like it's an everyday thing

I'm not big on sloppy Joe's, but I can eat it sometimes. But when I do I like to put cheese, and ranch dressing or sour cream. Yes coleslaw is good with it or on it.

That happened to me recently when I was out cleaning windows and didn't know there was a wasp nest in the corner of the window. Only one sting but that was enough for me!! I hope he's ok. All the years I've lived in Ireland, I never got stung until this year. My husband too got attacked! We took care of 3 underground nests with soap, water and dirt. Interesting to see people getting attacked by wasps in USA too. Ouch! 🐝

Hi honey it’s Marilyn from New Jersey. Video #3. First I have to say your home is beautiful. Live sloppy Joe’s is a delicious lunch. Iam learning how to ferment vegetables, I just got my fermenting lids from Amazon a little while ago so because it’s late in the day I will get started in the morning to ferment. I bought fresh asparagus. Carrots. Greenbeans. Cabbage to make sauerkraut. My grandson loves sauerkraut but he never tried it this way iam really excited to make this for him. I used to collect cookbooks too. Back in the day i had right around 700 cookbooks. Now I only have 1 and a half book cases now. At 75 yes old I don’t do a lot of cooking. I live with my oldest son and daughter in-law. I cook Scott’s dinner on the days donna works at the hospital. I bake some but my love is canning. I canned peaches today and made a peach cobbler for tonight’s desert….it was a hit lol

Years ago , I had so many tomatoes, From my father, (mine also passed) . I made ketchup! It was good, but something was missing, the taste wasn't right, so I asked my teen daughter to taste it . She immediately said NO vinegar! I forgot to put that in somehow! I fixed it before I canned it, funny memories you brought back to me tonight, I need to clean off my coffee table and dining room table, more inspiration from you, enjoy the cooler weather.

Your home looks so nice!! Call me overprotective (big smile) but please have folks using power tools wear eye protection. Have a friend who didn't when cutting a limb off a tree and the branch bounced, hit her in the eye and she almost lost her eyesight. Took her eye two months to heal. Ground hornets are bad. A friend dumped Diatomaceous Earth on the nest in his garden and it killed all the hornets/wasps. Sloppy Joes. Ever make Sloppy Joes and use as a topping on baked potatoes, with cheese, sour cream? Sloppy Joes also work well for taco filling, and instead of chili use for chili cheese fries.

Don't kill animals if not necessary, please. I had some in the roof over my kitchen window, over my tomatoes. I just kept this window closed and watered my tomatoes not standing completely upright. Nothing happened, we both lived in peace.

Love the decluttering and organizing. Looks great! Always love your collection of cookbooks. Looking forward when you go thru your bookshelf. Poor Scoot, always so helpful and he gets stung~! Hope he put some baking soda and water on it. It makes a paste to draw the stringer out. I am sure you know this. Not fun. My daughter & our puppy got stung by ground bees in our front yard. It was awful. The Sloppy Joe lunch looked sooo good. Especially working in the yard for a while in the hot sun. Enjoy your night of relaxation!

Oh, I felt so sorry for Scott getting stung! When I was a child I'd climb fences covered with vines and get stung, it really hurt! I wasn't calm like Scott, I was jumping around and hollering! lol Scott is a good guy, and your daughters are sweet and thoughtful too. That's the best blessing of getting older, for me anyway. I am glad he did not cut his leg off! I hope y'all got rid of the nest. Some people smoke them out, dig up the nest and fish with the larva, but you need to know what you are doing. Usually if you disturb the nest, they come after everything close by. I am surprised you did not get stunk, Tessie!

It looks wonderful Tessie, I just helped my mom declutter their new apartment. She didn't go thru stuff before they moved from their house they sold so we had to do it after. Big job but so worth it. Those yellow jackets are really mean and aggressive, I had them get mad at me when I was using the weedeater once, yikes, they followed me back to the house.

Calm days are a blessing when you need to burn stuff, because there's less chance of smoke and sparks traveling into the house or onto the neighbors' property. But -- that very still air really does feel a lot warmer, and you find yourself longing for a little breeze. You got a lot accomplished in those muggy conditions! Poor Scott!! I hope the bee stings didn't bother him for too long. He was so happy in the earlier part of the video (loved the double thumbs up in the background during your intro remarks). I wonder if there might be a beekeeper in your area who would be interested in coming to collect the bees for his hives? It would be really nice to get them out of your yard and it might help him too. The sloppy joe meal looked so good that a person might even forget about a bee sting or six though. I hope everyone had a restful, peaceful evening after that long day's labor. The de-cluttering project made the house look so cozy. I like the way you don't go for totally cleared-off surfaces, but instead you have little "arrangements" of pretty things, plants, heirloom objects and useful tools. Your artistic eye really can come up with some great combinations of articles to make your home warm and inviting!

Oh no bless his heart! Those are ruff. Best way to deal with them are at night they all return to their nest. We pour gas into hole ( sometimes we fill it full of form wrap spray) & have something ready to plug the hole so none get away! Blessings

We have yellow jackets here too. They nest in the ground and go dormant at night. I pour kerosene (just a bit) into the hole after dark - no more of those! They killed our neighbor’s horse a few yrs back, horrible. Y’all work so hard, and your property reflects that. It’s just so pretty. Lunch was delish! Blessings to all of you, ~~QM ❤️
