I own a 911 996 - bought it a couple of years ago and have loved owning it since. I always browse the market to see the prices and cars, saw this one for sale before so I knew the rough price. I think you've done well, it being a tip would put me off personally, but, hope its a good one!

Really fun video - thanks for sharing. I bought my 1999 996 for exactly the same reason. Too cheap to pass on. One thing I believe I have right is that this particular early version of the 996 has never been a risk when it comes to the IMS. People conflate the problem with all versions when in fact it is really something that emerged in the later 2000s models. The engine power combined with lightness of the car make it extremely nimble and quick. Hard to imagine more driving enjoyment & fun as such a low price - in my case

Glad you enjoyed it! I agree, quite a lot of scaremongering around the 996. Which is probably a big factor as to why their prices stay quite low. The IMS is probably the only good thing that has been done on my 996 by previous owners, at least it gives me a bit of piece of mind.

would love an update 2-3 months from now and again in maybe a year if there were any major problems. Thanks for the video

Thanks for watching. I've got a video on everything wrong with it so far coming up in the next couple of weeks. So keep an eye out for that!

Did you check for the common weak spots for the 996 (bump stops, top mounts, corroded brake lines, corroded exhaust bolts)? At least you checked the IMS had been replaced, and for possible bore scoring etc). Judging by the sound of the rattles as you go over the bumps, they may need doing. If it has suspension issues, you will eat into the saving you made. Always buy the best/fixed 911 you can. It’s a false economy to do otherwise.

Thanks for watching! I did all the checks I could without getting it on a ramp. At that price point you can't really expect to have everything go your way. I had only intended to keep it for the summer but it might be sticking around... I've got some what of a soft spot for it now. As for the rattle noises, that's actually coming from the passenger seat.. something to add to the job list haha.

I also bought a 911 in anticipation of a child. One year later i had a baby and as it turns out; its a pretty good family car. Better than you‘d expect anyway

In hindsight the 911 would have been a better choice, possibly would still be the daily! Unfortunately the 996.1 doesn't have ISOFIX... Whoops!

@@WiseTorque i grew up without isofix and other than my two missing legs and 3 missing fingers i turned out completely fine
