I just order one thank you. I'm just wanting to make some simple 18650 batteries for RC planes, mostly 2, 3 & 4S. What do you suggest the best Nickle to weld up such batteries?

in the description there are some links to nickel strip. .15mmx.8mm strip will carry 5 amps. so double up if you need to.

So what "upgrades" did you do to your red welder? I heard about adding an extra capacitor to help prevent the blowout of those switch chips (there are videos online about this), and something about a bypas circuit to prevent extra voltage buildup or what not (this one i cant find any good references to)

I've never had a problem with mine. I run it till its too hot to hold then switch to the k weld.

My welder is stock. 8ga ofc battery leads with an 8ah 3s LiPo battery. So the clicking I have had on the other cheap welders at low voltage. This video makes since. I would use mine to 11v then charge back to 12.3v. Maybe you could add copper to the traces, beef em up. but it sounds like cheap mosfets. cant fix that.

@@Orvis25 he changed the cheap mosfets with good ones. prolly dont need the extra cap. like i said mine works and welds as good as my K-weld. I ordered mine from Ebay. link in the description.

@@RodneySolarCircuits I'm probably going to use a standard 12v AGM battery for UPS's (since that's what I have, I dont have equipment to charge lipo packs like that). I will make sure to watch the voltage so it does not go too low, maybe even leave it hooked up to a portable car battery charger on low too for extra Amps available, and to help recharge it at same time. When you say beef up the traces, are you referring to the huge solder lines that run to and after (incoming from battery and exiting into the two handheld wires) the mosfests? If so, what benefit would that have? My understanding of many of the issues with these welders leads to the mosfets being crap and/or poor electrical design in terms of stability. Ps: appreciate your feedback, so rare to see YT people so interactive in comments.

How many welds do you get off the batteries on tr k weld. I ordered one with 2 turnigy 5 ah batteries

This battery was 3s- 8ah cells. You will be able to weld any "regular" size battery together before having to recharge with those. I dont remember the details but im sure that is enough.

@@RodneySolarCircuits thank you I got 2 sets of batteries. They were recommended on the k weld site. Waiting for them to come in. All my 32650 cells are waiting to be put together. Also how many welds on average before you let the k weld could down.

Unfortunately, I am one of those unlucky ones that did purchase a faulty red cheap spot welder... I even went and bought a 3S 5500mah 50C LiPo :3 Oh well... I have a question though... Can I use just one LiPo with the Kweld without ultracapacitors? I'm not perfectly familia with these kinds of things, so I had to ask... (in case you wonder, yes, I am thinking about getting a Kweld and operating it with the LiPo I already purchased... I'd be most greatful if you could give me your opinion )

Sad you got a bad one. You could buy another and has extra mosfets. Whats another $30 when you are gonna spend 250 on a kweld. Just saying. Kweld is awesome tho. Doing this big project it was nice to be able to swap welders and not have to stop as often. Battery gets hot too.

@@RodneySolarCircuits Look... I'm a little jealous of you... In the sense that your Chinese doohickey actually works. Believe me when I say that I'm not the only one that's "jealous". Most of the youtube videos demonstrating this spot welder were resulted in failure... However I did pull the trigger and ordered one, in hopes that I will have your luck xD Well it fried... After this one failure I'm not willing to pull the trigger again. My chances are about 30% success this time. But I won't take my chances xD If I can get away with around 160€ for a Kweld and not need anything other than my existing LiPo, I'm fine with that... At least I won't have to worry about a spot welder any more... 1. You did answer regarding my LiPo, however I think yours are quite more powerful. Do you think my 3S 5500mah 50C LiPo will be enough for the Kweld? 2. @@FishFish1995 your Chinese one will also work if you "just" add a capacitor. Refer to the maker Fabio's video. I don't know if you have any education on Electrical field or not. So I guess you could say for my application of making a couple battery packs for my bike it would work just fine. Those are like the least expensive options and you built those massive packs so I don't see why my idea isn't plausible... Only one way to find out
