Just come back from Japan! And plan to go back next year. The clothing thrift stores were a bit disappointing, a used jumper in the UK is about £5 to £10 depending on condition. I find the same jumper usually around £30 😬 Quite expensive for used clothing. That was my experience anyways.

aww that sucks! It definitely takes time and some luck to find the best deals when thrifting in Tokyo! But I agree there were LOTS of regular hoodie/sweaters we can get back home for much cheaper (i obv got influenced and ended up buying one myself lol) but there’s def hidden gems here and there if u get lucky!!

not really! There’s probably extra deals around golden week and new years but these thrift shops usually have random markdowns throughout the year to keep inventory flowing!

The only place I bought stuff from this time around was SAVERS so it’s def one of my faves esp since they have different deals each day of the week. Obv depends on what you’re into but 2nd street is a solid option since they carry both luxury/name brand pieces and everyday casual streetwear. Kinji is also great for one of a kind vintage pieces at reasonable prices 😊

no you're def right to be concerned! one of the reasons why i love thrifting in japan is how honest and attention to details they are when sourcing their products. Most of the time, even if there is a small pen mark or scratch on a product they'll heavily discount it as they view it as damage. There were definitely other style of burberry jackets (like their more popular trench coats) that were much newer and in better condition for a much higher price. I also got lucky that they were doing a 50% off promo which is why i got it for so cheap. Of course, there's still a chance for it to be fake & i did suspect that but after googling the model and checking all buttons, tags, and construction, i really did just get lucky and got a steal for it! if you do go thrifting in tokyo, definitely do your research and keep an open mind because you just might find a gem! hope this helps!!

Japan has rly strict laws agains counterfeit items so you shouldn’t worry especially in popular thrift store like the ones she goes to
