Cheap Trick was great (one of my faves of all time) but there are so many amazing bands playing today. People who say "all music is crap today" are really missing out on some cool music.
@Skulllywag9 жыл бұрын
Musically, Cheap Trick is tighter than ANY other band who has been around as long, and are still playing. Many singers today Robin's age, have totally shot vocals...I think Robin has learned (quiet masterfully) to adapt to the vocal limitations of age...and still sounds awesome. Have seen them a dozen times over the last 30 years, and never felt disappointed. Their work ethic is second to none.
@roycewilliams30869 жыл бұрын
+skullywag Absolutely! Robin really is a wonderful freak of nature in terms of where he still has the exact same range that he did when he was younger. What really disappoints me is that when I see most of my favorite classic rock and nostalgia bands, they detune songs to suit the singer's voice. As far as I know and have seen, CT doesn't detune their songs, at all. The unintended consequence of detuning is that the songs almost always inevitably take on a darker and heavier tone than they had in their original form.....and on songs like "Surrender", you want them to be bright and sparkly sounding still. And they are.
@Skulllywag9 жыл бұрын
It absolutely boggles my mind why they weren't "bigger" than what they were. They are an extremely tight and professional band, and Robins control of voice, I can only compare to Roy Orbison...who also wasn't that "big", but could shift vocal octaves like playing a fine instrument. It's nice to see some of the "bigger" bands show so much respect for Cheap Trick. Any Cheap Trick fan should google, and check out Rick's performance of "Stiff Competition" on David Letterman with the Foo Fighters... the drummer sings, and actually wears Robins suit from the Budokan days...NOT the singer Robin is...but definitely paying some respect!

yeah and its been almost 40 yrs of rock not country ...and REAL rock so so hard on the vocals and i have no idea how he still has a voice box left with the amount of passion he sings with..... please get this band into the hall of fame already! !!!!!! They have earned it...more then earned it.
