When something is “cheap”, I perceive it as low price and low quality. When something is good quality and a good low price, I like the term “inexpensive”.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned General’s, my brother had a set and was very happy with them, so when it was time to put a new set on my Wrangler I grabbed a set of the Grabber ATX LT285/70/R17, I had them out in the woods several times summer and fall off in New England and they are awesome, also great in the snow, they are very quiet and smooth on the road, I commute 45 minutes each way to work and couldn’t be happier, and the price was right.

King of budget tires, tier 3, is the Kenda, they are awesome. King of moderate/middle price or tier 2 is the Yokohama. Both of these brands are awesome quality. Had Kenda's (Klever) and they were great, I could not get a set again when I needed them due to supply issues so I got the Yokohama Geolander MT and they are great as well.

Funny you mention that - the Klever RT and the Geolandar MT's are two of my top options for new tires right now. I would also venture that quality can vary significantly even in "Tier 1" brands as a lot of the Toyota, Jeep, and overland/off-road forums are FULL of people that have in the last few years had perpetual balancing, premature treadwear, tread/sidewall durability, and other quality issues with even the super popular "Tier 1" brands.

The better "expensive" tires usually have more silicon in them for better wet stopping and grip. However, they get destroyed real quick in rocky situations, where a cheaper one with less silicon will hold up. Expensive isnt always better.

I have the Kanati Trailhog on my 07 Duramax. They look awesome, were easy to mount, balanced well, and seem to be wearing well. I primarily bought them for their snow performance, but they have done well in a muddy field checking horses as well. The only "bad" thing I have to say about them is that they feel a little softer on a heavy truck (compared to the Kumhos I had on before), so they feel slightly less stable. They do NOT feel unsafe by any means. I would like to see how they do on my Jeep, and I may buy them as the next set of tires for it.

I just bought a second set of wheels & tires through these guys. I bought Radar Renegade RT Plus 37x12.50R17LT with 17X9 -12, for my Duramax Crew Cab. The idea 💡 is to have a second set of tires for when I am not towing the 42' Hauler. So, I went with the cheaper tire. This channel is mainly for information to promote sales but, once you do business with them get ready for the call back to push ceramic coating on the rims and internal pressure gages for your setup. Marking that you don't need this is not enough, they feel compelled to give you more information about items they feel you should purchase form them. I had to explain to them I have a air pressure monitoring system for the for all 10 wheels for both the three axles on the trailer and the truck. We will see the end result of this business transaction.

The issue is that in the real world, I've tested "cheap" tires that have smoked "name brand" tires in almost every category. Wear, traction, balancing, ruggedness, etc. I think that the Ford/Firestone debacle in the 1990s really lit a fire under tire manfacturers to produce quality tires. It's hard to buy junk these days. But, it is very interesting when a cheap tire outperforms an expensive one. For example, the Milestar Patagonia M/T beats the piss out of the Nitto Ridge Grappler or Trail Grappler.

Specialty tires such as AT MT XT and then the sports car tires which i know nothing about are very difficult to judge based on longevity and or price its their durability and strengths that make them valuable or their specific situations. Been in the tire business over 25 yrs and i know very little in comparison to all the brand names that come and go daily. But i know from the fleets of pickups and vans and rigs weve done over the years Brand and Brand Construction is much more important than price theres a reason a lot of newer tires go out sell a bunch then change their names or you cant get them anymore for whatever. Buy they tire that fits the use more important imho price is when you find the type you neeed and your using price to be the tie breaker.

Radar and Nexen tread designs are mostly identical, due to China's lack of enforcing any patent claims, but Nexen is it's own company, and therefore a "major" label. Radar is an Omni private label. Ironman is a Cooper private label. Kenati is a Greenball private label brand. And Venom Power? You're on your own.

I don't know why you aren't familiar with Nexen. It is 3rd largest tires manufacturer in South Korea (behind Hankook and Kumho) and maybe most affordable among them. And they offer good value for money, really chinese price and Korean quality. Personally I use Laufenn all terrain, that is Hankook budget subbrand manufactured in Indonesia. Good price, good quality and they are common in Ukraine. Because when you have only one set of 4 tires available on the market, buy them and than damage one of them, where do you'll get a spare one. So in my opinion you should consider tires also considering their availability too. If you buy MT for offroading use only, you could go with cheapest ones, but if you need good onroad behavior, you'll better make some research. Sometimes cheap tyre could basically tears apart under tought loading and cornering

Iv made the mistake and thought I'd get a "budget" tire they were the centennial dirt commander. The caused premature bearing failure by never being able to balance. Couldn't go past 65 on the freeway. And had a blow out with only 475 miles.. they were supposed to be f load. I spent 1100 on 5 tires. I got them off after I saved back up for the toyo m/t. Had them for 30,000 and still another 20 k left. DONT BUY CHEAP!!!!!!

I'm looking to get bigger wheels for my Ford F150 and the tires I'm looking at are either the Road One or Pinnacle Atheon MTX tires. There aren't really any info on the Road One's because they keep talking about the Calvary MT tires and I can't find anything at all on the Pinnacle tires. These tires both have the same tread pattern and I just wan tot see some reviews on how they ride. I use my truck as a daily driver and hardly any off roading but I love the aggressive look from hybrid tires. Any information on them would be great.

Maybe you forgot the debacle of the 1990s Chinese tires that came into the country with no gum rubber around the steel belts (uncalendared). They were imported by a company in northern NJ, and when they started failing the US government demanded that they do a recall. So when the importer went back to the manufacturer, he was told they would NOT honor the recall, basically driving him out of business. So, like every other Chinese product, you're never sure what the quality is going to be. The US government doesn't actually do the testing, they "require" the manufacturer to do it to their standards. A note on private label tires: The manufacturer making the private label tires usually does not use the latest and best technology they put into their name brand, because they want an edge, making the tire worth more. And lesser brands don't usually wear as well as name brands. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11457379

I hear alot of good reviews on the Radar Renegades but no reviews on thd Renegade X..I dont mind running the "cheap" tires as I ferl it all to be a bit of a crap shoot..I put Antares Deep Diggers (cheap) on my H2 and three years later with only about 5,000km the side walls and between the treads are cracking..put the same tire on my H3 daily driver, for four years and not as much cracking..I had Interco TrXus (not cheap, didnt wear well and one bead completely separated from the sidewall after three years of light summer driving..contact Interco and they basically told me to fuk off.. #interco #intercotire
