Funny you mention that - the Klever RT and the Geolandar MT's are two of my top options for new tires right now. I would also venture that quality can vary significantly even in "Tier 1" brands as a lot of the Toyota, Jeep, and overland/off-road forums are FULL of people that have in the last few years had perpetual balancing, premature treadwear, tread/sidewall durability, and other quality issues with even the super popular "Tier 1" brands.

The issue is that in the real world, I've tested "cheap" tires that have smoked "name brand" tires in almost every category. Wear, traction, balancing, ruggedness, etc. I think that the Ford/Firestone debacle in the 1990s really lit a fire under tire manfacturers to produce quality tires. It's hard to buy junk these days. But, it is very interesting when a cheap tire outperforms an expensive one. For example, the Milestar Patagonia M/T beats the piss out of the Nitto Ridge Grappler or Trail Grappler.

Specialty tires such as AT MT XT and then the sports car tires which i know nothing about are very difficult to judge based on longevity and or price its their durability and strengths that make them valuable or their specific situations. Been in the tire business over 25 yrs and i know very little in comparison to all the brand names that come and go daily. But i know from the fleets of pickups and vans and rigs weve done over the years Brand and Brand Construction is much more important than price theres a reason a lot of newer tires go out sell a bunch then change their names or you cant get them anymore for whatever. Buy they tire that fits the use more important imho price is when you find the type you neeed and your using price to be the tie breaker.

I don't know why you aren't familiar with Nexen. It is 3rd largest tires manufacturer in South Korea (behind Hankook and Kumho) and maybe most affordable among them. And they offer good value for money, really chinese price and Korean quality. Personally I use Laufenn all terrain, that is Hankook budget subbrand manufactured in Indonesia. Good price, good quality and they are common in Ukraine. Because when you have only one set of 4 tires available on the market, buy them and than damage one of them, where do you'll get a spare one. So in my opinion you should consider tires also considering their availability too. If you buy MT for offroading use only, you could go with cheapest ones, but if you need good onroad behavior, you'll better make some research. Sometimes cheap tyre could basically tears apart under tought loading and cornering

There aren't really any info on the Road One's because they keep talking about the Calvary MT tires and I can't find anything at all on the Pinnacle tires. These tires both have the same tread pattern and I just wan tot see some reviews on how they ride. I use my truck as a daily driver and hardly any off roading but I love the aggressive look from hybrid tires. Any information on them would be great.

Most of those are around $200+ per tire. Not what I call cheap.

Mickey Ts and Toyo Should be numero uno class or were they rated above T1?
@whowho84703 жыл бұрын
Mickeys are made in the Cooper plants and they are definitely not as good as Toyo / Nitto. Cooper, like BFG, need to upgrade their technology.

I loved my ironman all country mt in every manner except the fact that they wouldn't balance. They'd be the perfect offroad tire in my opinion if I never had to hit the road to get to trails.

Cheap mud tires are good. But it's not as good as the expensive tire like bfg km3s, Toyo open country mts, ..

Maybe you forgot the debacle of the 1990s Chinese tires that came into the country with no gum rubber around the steel belts (uncalendared). They were imported by a company in northern NJ, and when they started failing the US government demanded that they do a recall. So when the importer went back to the manufacturer, he was told they would NOT honor the recall, basically driving him out of business. So, like every other Chinese product, you're never sure what the quality is going to be. The US government doesn't actually do the testing, they "require" the manufacturer to do it to their standards. A note on private label tires: The manufacturer making the private label tires usually does not use the latest and best technology they put into their name brand, because they want an edge, making the tire worth more. And lesser brands don't usually wear as well as name brands. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11457379

I hear alot of good reviews on the Radar Renegades but no reviews on thd Renegade X..I dont mind running the "cheap" tires as I ferl it all to be a bit of a crap shoot..I put Antares Deep Diggers (cheap) on my H2 and three years later with only about 5,000km the side walls and between the treads are cracking..put the same tire on my H3 daily driver, for four years and not as much cracking..I had Interco TrXus (not cheap, didnt wear well and one bead completely separated from the sidewall after three years of light summer driving..contact Interco and they basically told me to fuk off.. #interco #intercotire

Running Dick Cepek tires. They are cheaper tires that seem to give good results. I don't see any advertising for them and they ran me less than most name brand tires
