I’d build a few BBC dispersion panels for the wall my speakers point to, and surround them somewhat with acoustic absorption panels. I definitely need to build a window plug.I also plan to design three large overlapping sound clouds with two Philips Hue downlights. Bass traps in every corner and because I have a closet and a notch space next to the closet for the door to open I’ll just put a run to hold a theater curtain on that side of the room. Floors are carpeted already. I would like to treat the two exterior walls with mass loaded vinyl as well.

What would be the best way to soundproof pipe gaps that exist in a floor. I have a water pipe for a kitchen sink that runs from my neighbor down stairs, inside a wall, up into my kitchen. But there is a gap around the pipes, that is letting in air(&sound) from down stair neighbor. Because the pipes are in a stud wall, the noise is then amplified via echo effect. I though about using concrete to seal the gap around the pipes, but I saw someone say these concrete can crack overtime from movement (seasonal temperature?). There is foam, but foam is not a good soundproofing material.

This is perfect timing! I'm trying to set up a home studio just like this but I have an idea that maybe you can provide some feedback on. Been looking at materials with high STC rating and what frequencies they work at. I've decided to use cork for its high rating of 50 at 6mm (1/4 in) and because of its light weight + cheap cost. I plan to cover my entire wall in cork underlayment but the real secret sauce will be the MLV layered between my wall and cork + another layer on the outside. Both of those will absorb a wide range of frequencies for a very simple installation and decent cost. As a final touch, foam panels can be adhered too for extra sound deadening and appearances! Thoughts?

I hope you make a video soon clearing up some of these alternative materials, such as heavyweight felt actually not being so great at treating sound but cork being pretty good! My alternative option was cheaper but possibly a little more difficult to deal with. I was thinking of using dense carpet padding of 8lb at 5/16 or 7/16th. That provides a slightly higher STC at a little more thickness. It does look ugly though so would definitely need MLV on the outer surface. It's also more flexible and heavier so it might be a pain to get up on the wall
