Hey Marc. Good to see you posting more videos. The Welding Positioners definitely come in handy. As you already know not a common use item which does make it difficult to commit to much money towards buying one. I own a similar one myself which i have also posted a few videos on for those who might be interested to buy one. Looking forward to seeing more from you soon. Peter.

Great review mate, I’ve got a few hundred stainless bsp 2 inch pipe sockets I have to weld together and this is exactly what I need. They don’t need to be perfect but I’m having nightmares over the thought of doing them in a v block

A toggle relay circuit with a selector switch to choose between a momentary and latching foot switch would have been an easy job for the manufacturer and a good feature to sell their product especially when the parts are well under $20. It's also possible for anyone handy since the information you'd need is readily available....or a mechanically latching switch would work too.

Thanks for this informative video. Wouldn't have minded to see more details about the chuck. I know nothing about these things but I'm looking at getting one to get neater TIG results like you and these come with a small chuck. I'm trying to see how the larger chucks are fitted/mounted before I pull the trigger on buying one.
@kinzy_fabrications3 жыл бұрын
All the chucks ive seen just bolt through from the back so pretty simple to mount any chuck really, the only thing this would be no good for is through chuck work as there is no through hole in the rotary the way its made Thanks Marc

of course, no useful instructions…. I’ve watched 3 videos and nobody mentioned how they connected the ground to the positioned?? There is a rectangle aluminum bracket on my VEVOR model similar to this one, and a block of copper, bronze that goes in the aluminum bracket that looks like it’s designed to make contact with the back side of the turntable?? BUT no spring, no anything it just free slides in and out. When you turn the table horizontal it just falls out of the aluminum bracket!! That bronze piece has wires and a open ring terminal crimped on… but no idea how to connect the ground properly? Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Hi On my positioner there is a terminal on the top/back plate of the frame for the ground cable but as my welding bench is earthed direct to my welder so that my table top is my earth all i done was grind the paint off the bottom of the frame so that its got a goodcontact to my table, that way i dont have to worry about a seperate earth cable and that works fine for me Thanks Marc

hi, great review! which chuck did you buy? I have just ordered one of these positioners and want to order the upgrade chuck like yours, just not sure on the fitting. how does it earth the work piece? can you get a pipe through the centre of the chuck for argon purging?
@kinzy_fabrications5 ай бұрын
Hi I got the chuck seperately from ebay, just a cheap import type, i have not purged through the centre as there is no hole through the main backplate on the positioner, im not sure if it could be modified though so cant say

I bought this unit and did not get the clip and carbon brush to allow the unit to give the ability to use the turntable for Welding. I've contacted vevor about this and am getting the runaround. They said it's a consumable they drop $60 off, and I then needed to find the brush and clip. I said no way either send the part or give me a return label and a full refund. I wouldn't have any idea where to buy the part and I'm assuming by there reply they don't offer replacement parts rendering it worthless in time. Bad business practice.

@@kinzy_fabrications I'm building a table up out of bits so I may give it go - only downside is I think you may need the weld pool to form before it starts going round. But then, I'm not sure I have enough coordination for the torch, filler, TIG pedal and positioner pedal - one or all is gonna go wrong !

Pretty cool review, I was more interested in the construction of the tank. You said you press them out in house. Why not have a double shoulder so youre doing s lap joint instead of a butt joint. Would help with heat soak too on a lap joint versus a butt joint. Would not have to worry about tacking it.

@@kinzy_fabrications Very few weld procedures have no root gap , granted its not going to make much odds on an oil tank , but your welds would sit lower and look less like a caterpillar , but as you say each to their own , thanks for taking the time to make content though.
