Awesome video! I bought the same one, and it is wayyy too fast. This was a great idea, and well explained thank you! can wait to try the swap.

The faster speeds are for grinding on the positioner

They now say it comes with a 1-12 rpm motor so maybe they have since fixed that issue.... 🤷‍♂️ Great video though man, appreciate it 👍

Thanks for the link to the motor. I'm going to try the 20 rpm for TIG welding. I found the speed as a flaw also. What were they thinking??

how did the 20 rpm motor work for you?

@@RosinEnthusiast It is way better, but honestly range would be better if was even slower.

@@RosinEnthusiast would love to hear about this. I thought I just couldn't hack the positioner thing. turns out it IS way too fast for everyone lol.

These small ones are rated up to 80 amps. That’s it! I’ve got a similar one, not from Vevor. I think it cost me, around 18 months ago, $325. Prices have dropped to about $263 now. I’ve gone to 120 amps and it’s been ok, but I wouldn’t go higher than that. Mine does have a reverse switch. I’m thinking of going to the next larger size.

My Hobart 190 just has letters for the settings, but apparently I’ve been using it at 180 amps on the rotary table! Haha. I did notice that I can’t wrench the chuck closed before welding because it’ll be super tough to open the chuck back up after the weld. Other than that, I haven’t noticed any issues.

@@LucidAutowerks well, other than the lug burning out. It’s a risk though.

@@melgross I know. I didn’t take it as that. I agree with you. I’m sure I’m overdoing it with this little rotary table. I had wanted to build one like This Old Tony did but I just don’t have the time these days.

Would you recommend even a lower rpm motor for tig welding?
@LucidAutowerks
@LucidAutowerks 2 ай бұрын
I haven't TIG welded on it yet, but I think it goes slow enough to use for that. Lower RPM wouldn't hurt though since at the higher speeds it's still faster than I'd ever use for welding. Someone mentioned that the higher speeds are for grinding but I don't use mine for that.

I bought this unit and did not get the clip and carbon brush to allow the unit to give the ability to use the turntable for Welding. I've contacted vevor about this and am getting the runaround. They said it's a consumable they drop $60 off, and I then needed to find the brush and clip. I said no way either send the part or give me a return label and a full refund. I wouldn't have any idea where to buy the part and I'm assuming by there reply they don't offer replacement parts rendering it worthless in time. Bad business practice.

Yeah that brush isn’t a part that seems like it would be easy to source. I’ve heard that their customer service isn’t very good. I guess that’s the cost of buying cheap tools from an internet based company. You might be able to check on McMaster.com for something that would work.
