Pyle used to be quality. They made speakers for many big names. When I was in high school, the best subwoofers to have were Pyle Drivers. Another fun fact, the "music" room in my house used to be a storage room for vintage Pyle products. This is because we bought our house from the Pyle family (founder's son).

I would reframe this by pointing out that Pyle has always been known for their speakers, which are at least generally reliable, and never really known for their electronics.

Some of the 1980's Pyle car audio amps were amazing values. They knew that they were going to be installed by amateurs, so they included every type of circuit protection possible. You could ground the speaker negative wires to the car chassis and it wouldn't hurt anything. The reason they had such a bad reputation was because they were only sold at flea markets. It wasn't that they were poor quality. Pyle Driver subs were a good value as well.

My folks were 'Parent Smart'. I grew up in the '50s and '60s, when most people were buying their first b&w TV or color TVs. In either case TVs with remote controls were scarce so my folks, being parent smart, use to have my sisters and I change the channel or turn the volume up and down. As we got older, and a little bolder, we refused to do those things. Well my parents changed tactics. My mom would call us out from our bedrooms saying that she had to show or tell us something and when we stepped into the living room she'd spring the trap "Would you change the channel ?", We got wise to that pretty quickly but my folks, ever ahead of us would then actually have something to tell us or show us .... and then "Oh, as long as you're here would you change the channel?", My folks finally bought a color TV with a remote control so us kids were happy, only they'd leave the remote on the couch and they were sitting in a chair ... so now they'd call us out to get the remote for them. ARGH! When I was a little kid our house was always a mess but as we got older my mom had us doing more chores around the house, first just picking up after ourselves then tidying up the living room, then dusting, vacuuming, and as soon as we were tall enough, washing the dishes. My Senior year in high school I had half days on Fridays so my mom would have me clean the house, but she actually paid me. Having the extra cash back then came in really handy, buying gas, going on dates, so I made sure I did a good job. In fact I did such a good job cleaning and finished fast that I earned the nicknames "Mister Clean" and "The White Tornado" both came from ads for a cleaning liquid popular at the time. I joked that I was channelling the ghost of my grandmother, who had the cleanest house you ever saw.

One powers some Micca OoOs in the boat and the other powers Dayton DMK402s (both sound pretty decent...) plenty loud to hear while sailing with speakers below pointing out hatch, plus it is wired direct to 12volt boat system. It is a little scratchy on the bass knob but both systems have been in pretty brutal environments...and keep working.

I haven't thought of that name in decades. I remember they sold a brand called American Hi-Fi that touted 'power boosters' for car audio, which claimed 500w/ch. JCW was practically a catalog version of the mysterious white van that sold electronics out of the back. I knew guys that bought that crap. FWIW: I knew someone who bought a pair of 3-way home speakers from JCW that had the standard 12" woofer, 4"mid, and 2" cone tweeter, but also had upward firing mid and tweeter in the top of the cabinet. They sounded like what you'd expect but when I see new speaker with upward firing Atmos drivers, I'm reminded of those JCW speakers.

@@toddlee2571 well point anyone with a standard 7.1 set of speakers that just upgraded their HT receiver to these for a cheaper solution! LOL At least you got the extra crap speakers you payed for in the box. I had a set of 2.1 pc speakers by logitech about 5 years back. They were not even bottom of the barrel cheapest ones at wal mart at the time. Another 2.1 other brand set beat it in price but the logitechs sported tweeters. Sounded ok-ish for what they were. It was a ruse and I fell for it and payed the extra 12 or whatever bucks! They looked like legit 2 way speakers with a 3/4" tweeter and a 3"-3.5" maybe paper cone driver in the main stereo pair. It was a blatant lie! Those tweeters were a fake plastic button glued above the sole driver! The tweeters wouldn't have done nothing for my experience to be honest.. but just the balls to win a sale with pure treachery. E-GADZ!!! They are still being sold today and for way more money! I picked up a new Pyle PTA1000BT professional amp at auction last year, for $18. It claimed to be a 2000w amp. Yes, that is what is on the unit and all literature included, but the RMS says 100w per channel. Now, I don't know all the ins and outs of audio equipment, but it had unusual input and output jacks on the back that I imagine are for integrating this unit into a PA type of system. I used it for about a month as a 2 channel receiver and it did exactly what yours did... It ran out of steam once bass was called for. It made noise, and it worked down to 4 ohms, which was what I needed for my PSB mini stratus speakers, but it didn't sound particularly good. Because I was building a strict budget 2 channel listening area, I took a chance and replaced it with the Dayton HTA200 and I have been absolutely dazzled by it ever since. For $350, it sounds awesome, likes spicy listening levels, and does everything a Camgridge or Outlaw can do, at half the price. So lesson learned... Pyle is trash.

I remember Pyle stuff being sold along with even worse "white box" audio junk off the back of a "traveling road show" white trailer audio truck that came to our town in a certain department stores parking lot once every summer back in the early 80's. I knew better than to buy anything from this shyster outfit but many of my friends did not. One of those friends called me up on a saturday telling me what a great deal he had gotten off this truck on a 7 band "2000 watt" equalizer/booster combo unit for his car and he wanted help installing it. Ill never forget the white box brand of the equalizer -"Bando" - - I knew before I ever saw it he'd been taken for $30 he would never see again - and I was right, the big white truck was gone before the following sunday afternoon. I told him no point in even installing it but he said I was being too critical etc. so I went over and saw this thing. It was a box of air that weighed less than the micro guage wires sticking out of it. The only instructions were a small tag on the back of the air box and the EQ controls felt like they were full of beach sand. I did hook up this thing with its odd "internal ground" system (it had no ground wire!) according to the tag on the back, all it did was make his cars sony radio sound like something you would hear out of a singing greeting card, and the controls made virtually no difference. Mind you I was well versed in car audio at the time and never found anything I couldnt properly install and wire up, but even "properly" wired up there was no hope for this scam rig. After my "friend" accused me of not hooking it up right he spent a quarter of an hour scrutinizing my wiring and finally seeing it was correct, he lit a cigarette and defeated he quietly said "just take it out and hook it up like before" I felt bad, but after awhile I asked him if I could have a look inside and he said ok so I pulled out the two screws that held the cover on and it was unbelievable - nothing but seven of the cheapest mini slide controls id ever seen a couple capacitors and - nothing...but the wires leading out the back. It was even worse than (I) expected, so I held back the urge to laugh at it in deference to his feelings, we didnt speak about that day for at least two years. I think even one of the Pyles might have been better than this thing - but back then I doubt it.

I picked up a very similar receiver from a store called "Uncle Weiners" (No bs. That's the name!) that bragged that it had 300w/channel (yeah for about 1 microsecond at 1K on a dead short) and it's currently used as a shop stereo with some cheap JVC speakers (5" 2-ways). I found that the line input is pretty good, bluetooth is okay, radio was FM only (and Mono), but the SD and USB were so noisy it was unuseable. BUT, hooked up to my iPod 5.5G player it does reasonably well for the $40 I paid and the $10 I spent on the speakers. It's got 10w/channel for real, maybe 15 at most, but for background while I'm working on trucks in the shop it's ideal. Small footprint, Bluetooth is fine for what I need it for, and it can get reasonably loud (at least until the boss shows up). I'm not defending Pyle really, but it would have a place as a background casual listening receiver.

The amp looked like a real piece of Schiit, just whipped up with no face plate at the front, one plastic knob snd rattling toggle switches for inputs. In just a plain grey industrial metal case. I had one of those as an outdoor patio amp .its been replaced by a fosi. I have to say when i bought it that silly rack handle was broken. I made a comment on amazon suggesting better packing. Pyle contacted me and offered a replacement, i said i didn't care about the handle, and they refunded my money. With the world plagued with crappy customer service, i was surprised.

I’ve been thinking about buying one, or something similar for my pool area. Anything I’ve used before gets corroded because of the Florida humidity. It’s ruined a few nice Yamaha amps, and was starting to corrode my old Mac equipment until a friend saw what I was doing and rode me hard until I promised to bring it indoors.

@davidclaycomb5496 im in ny, and it stayed outside under cover for years and was ok. But for the price, who cares . i can say the remote sucks the bluetooth range is awful, and it doesn't get super loud. My other thought was a marine radio for a boat they are installed like a car radio.

I just bought an A-One amp that look similar to this with similar price to test my leftover passive speaker, though they only stated to have 20W RMS and 40W peak per channel at 4 ohms, it sound like crap that make me unable to judge if my leftover speakers is still okay. Its sound remind me of my cheap transistor radio I bought cheaply 10 years ago for listening to some protesters stage campaign that only lived through some local radio channel that is also hard to find frequency at the time. But it's only $47 so I don't really care but the question still remained for me why it sound like that and that question make me not sure what a more expensive and more decent amplifier I should buy and whether the speakers are still fine in the first place. After watching this video, my amp I'd said above have more or less the same characteristic as the amp in this video, and the loud noise is also a fact for mine as well.

Pyle. I always thought they should have spelled it "pile," as in "pile of crap." They make me also think about Pyramid. I think I'd have trouble deciding which is worse. And Randy, don't worry about your house being a mess. It just shows that you're hitting your target audience.

Broadlink RM4 Pro - very nifty box to allow universal/learning remote via mobile phone with a painless and functional app. Given the popularity of using a mobile to control streaming etc, it makes sense to also use a mobile as a universal remote.

I've used one of these for well over a year for my living room setup. I paid under $20 on Ali. It all works. The EQ, Bluetooth, USB... It gets loud too. The only problem is the pop when it powers on. I've heard worse. I tend to leave it on with the volume knob up, but turned down via remote. It goes without saying, if I'm using something like this, I don't have premium speakers. But I remember $19 new release CDs, and I'm pretty sure I got a pair of socks one Xmas that cost as much as this. Mine is generic as fk.

Love your channel! Keep em coming. May I suggest a review of the Sangean HD-20 HD Radio Tuner. I live in NY and call me crazy but I prefer HD radio to Spotify and Sirius XM in my car (using iPhone 14 Pro and 19 speaker car system in a Jeep Grand Cherokee). When that HD digital signal locks in it is pretty awesome. So I was wondering if you could review and tell me what you hear with your knowledgeable audiophile ears on a cheap system and then on your Advance Amp and Sonus Faber speakers. Really curious what you find. Thanks!!

I got one for $29 and figured I could make some mods to improve it. I want to stream my audio lessons in the garage from phone or USB memory stick.. I have lots of large caps lying around. I should be able to fix the noise and give it better "lung capacity" . The old speakers out in the garage have 15" subs.

Signal to noise ratio ~25, even at low amplitude. The factory in Asia that made pyle when you were a kid is the same factory that makes them today. Dont hate on those Sony speakers, if you get them at a good price they are fine.

Pyle's was originally the Utah Speaker Co. in Huntington Indiana, my home town. Their MP3000 speakers were some of the best speakers made at the time and I wish I still had mine. The audio products that come from the Pyle Co. today are sadly far inferior to what they used to be, but I don't think the Pyle family has anything to do with the company as it exists today and hasn't for years and years now.

Ok, all giggling aside, I bought my wife this amp to power a pair of Yamaha outdoor speakers so she can listen to music and meditations she saves to her various SD cards. It plays 1/3 to 1/2 volume in our screen room for extended periods of time, and it hasn't missed a beat so far. It does a much better job with the SD card source than bluetooth. I wouldn't use it for anything other than background music, but the SD card input makes it a winner in my opinion.

Listening to this with a Fosi BT20A pro, 2 minimus 7 speakers (Original owner) and a Velodyne sub. Total invested less than $150. (Tho the $60 sale price on the 7s was in 1979$...:) Fosi at release price (love it.) and Velodyne found on side of freeway, scratched up with foam rot. Replaced foam, about $12. Pretty nice.) The Fosi was your fault... Thanks. You do have to admit, tho. Pyle is an honest brand. It's exactly what you get. A pile... I admit to buying a "2000W" Pyle receiver one day for 60ish(?), as 1: had to see just how awful it was, and 2: I needed a POS for a small barn-like building wedding reception for background music (2 of those cheap but decent Dayton bookshelfs) and a $20 wireless mike that I'd hacked into the pyle so when it was turned on, it would 'duck' the music for the roasts and such. One time use. It was a class AB discrete amp, with maybe 50W worth of power transformer in it. It did the job, got banged around a bit and I think it's still up in the shed. it did as expected, nothing like it says it will, tho..:) It's a pyle... Stu

I have a Pyle phono preamp. It doesn't sound awful, but it's really quiet. I mean it's not "good." But it does the job. It runs on a 9-volt battery. Battery powered phono preamps are kinda hard to do wrong. That being said, I expect far less of their integrated amps.

As others have said, Pyle used to be a quality company like Jenson and Blaupunkt among others. In fact, they were one of the first to offer seperate subwoofers for the car market. But in the 80's they became little more than flea-market fodder. Kind of like the company I've worked at for almost 20 years. Oh brother how the mighty have fallen.
