I felt like I needed to make this video to help the masses. Not everyone can afford a cold plunge, and I understand that. Here are some practical ways EVERYONE can get cold. Let me know your thoughts in the comments 😘

Need you to do a review on those portable saunas like the nurecover!

You touched on this around minute 8 the lower end cost plunge options. I recently purchased the Ice Pod - had it for 3 weeks now and have been using it 4 - 5 times per week. I thought this would be a good place to start and see if I'm going to stick to this before a big investment. We live in Vegas so it is HOT HOT HOT in the summer, and warm most of the year (like FL but no humidity). I have been surprised by the Ice Pod's insulation and ability to keep a cold temperature cold. Lowest we got it was 48 and were able to keep it between 52 - 54 for a week before changing the water and cleaning it. We made and used large ice blocks to get the temperature down initially, and then had to add a bag of ice the last day before draining and cleaning to bring it down from 59 degrees. Just a comment to let you now the Ice Pod 2.0 model does offer some insulation. Thanks for all your reviews they have been very helpful with getting started with plunging and learning about what is available and at what price points. The other reason the Ice Pod is good for us, as a military family we move often so something that can be portable - light weight and package up smaller is great.

I did order a BoxPlunge last weekend. But for 4 months now I’ve had the polar pod. It’s one of those circle pods but this one is triple insulated and has worked wonderfully for 80$. I live in CT and with winter my water sits between 32-38 degrees and it’s awesome for a starter 🤙🏻

That is amazing!! I felt bad in that part of the video, I didnt mean all. There are some on amazon for even cheaper and they are basically a hefty bad on stilts. Ive seen a few in person and they scared me. But that is awesome to hear the Polar Pod is a solid choice!

Thinking about one of those inflatable tub shaped ones. I see there's some on Amazon that look almost identical to the $1000 options most people recommend. I have a 1/3 hp chiller already and hooked up to one of those $80 vinyl pvc pipe pop up ones. Also located in Florida but I'm in an apartment with a patio so the ability to move it is a must for me. Ive been doing it daily fresh out the bed every morning for 3 min. I'm now down to 45° and my chiller is I believe rated to go down to 41

That is awesome!! If portability is what you are after, that is a great option.

@DavidMausJr how durable are they? You also live in FL, I have zero shade on my patio so it bakes all day long in the sun. I have a couple patio umbrellas to give some shade/protection from the elements to the chiller that sits outside running 24/7. Im more worried about the sun deteriorating the integrity of the plastic inflatable tubs. Have you had any issue with those before?

Hey David, Considering the Brain pod 2.0 vs plunge standard. It’s so tough to decide. I will be placing this in my finished basement, (Maine) I wish you would have showed the the connections of the brain pod in the back and show the drain. It seams once you add all the sanitizer/ the cover and the brain pod the price is almost the same as plunge (within 100 or so bucks with discount codes etc. I can’t figure out what pushes 1 over the other. Brainpod 2.0 as of 2/3/24 is now 4590 with .8pm cooler. I don’t need heating since i already have a hot tub out back.

Keep up the great work with the videos David 😁👍 I have a question: I too live in Florida. I've been doing ice baths since winter started. I have one of the Rubbermaid 90-gallon tubs, and I've been using about 70 gallons of water in it and ice to get it cold, I've been looking at the Active Aqua Water Chiller 1/4 hp, how fast would that model cool down 70 gallons of water I have well water that stays around 70° all year round could I turn it on at 7 or 8:00pm at night and it would be chilled to maybe low 40s around 6 in the morning? That's about what time I like to take my plunges... I'm just not a big fan of it running all day long while I'm not using it...

Are you familiar or can you expand on people dipping their face in a bowl of ice (Dave Asprey hack)? Just did one a couple of hours ago and it made a difference energy wise. Just don't feel like the face will eventually be enough. Guessing that the back of the neck may be good enough because that has an effect on the vagus nerve, but I'm not sure. Is it worth the expense and effort to set something up a larger basin that I can dip my head up to the top of the shoulders? Anyways, I'm looking to level up from the face plunge and thought this may interest your viewers because this is obviously cheaper!

Love your videos? I'm currently using a cold plunge by the pod company and I'm wanting to upgrade the pod. Would the ice barrel 400 be a good option? Currently using 1/3hp chiller not sure if that's strong enough.
