Usually when you order the parathas - the chix,fish or mutton curry provided comes only as plain gravy,no ingredients included. If you want the chix,fish or mutton pieces you need to pay extra. This applies to all the paratha shops - in SG only.

As a Singaporean, we usually just use the same side of the chopsticks to grab and cook the raw food, then "sanitise" it by dipping it into the hot soup, before using the same pair to eat. It was hilarious seeing you use the other side of your chopsticks! The prata place was really value for money too (:

That's works uncooked flavor in the soup. Burger and chicken factories create Ecoli in larger numbers smaller numbers in fresh local food its less likely. How many years has society's been butchering and serving food In hawker type or open markets.

Prata always comes with a dipping curry. It’s usually just the gravy, with no meat or veggies. It looks like Mike often orders curries at extra cost, which is why you see chunks of meat - it’s a dish on its own.

Strictly Dumpling, I have been in Singapore for the past few weeks and I tried a hawker stall today that I think you would really like. Its called 林玉梅 Sarawak Laksa & Kolo Mee in the Haig Road Food Centre. We got the Number 1 Pork Dry Noodles and it had springy thin noodles, two types of pork, spring onions, and chili sauce/sambal. Definitely go there you won't regret it!

So, the masala prata was basically a masala dosa, but in a prata, yes? I haven't had prata before, but in Malaysia, I had murtabak, which looks to be similar if not identical. Singapore is my favorite country to eat it. The tough questions are "how many meals can I manage to eat today?" and "where do I start?"

this brings memories of a indian buffet i used to go it was like around $25 USD but it was a whole indian buffet u got meats cooked in tandoor ovens, lots of curries to choose from, saffron basmati plain basmati BUT the best part was the freshly made parathas and naans and chapatis I know the number 1 rule of buffet is not get full on carbs but jesus that was heavenly

I'd never heard of prata before, but they look and sound amazing! Your Singapore food vlogs are an inspiration to visit Singapore, just to go on an eating/bingeing tour! 😆😋 EDIT: ok, so after looking up prata, I've discovered they're very similar to roti, which I have had, and absolutely love. I just haven't seen them with such delicious fillings, though

I think the most common flavours for prata in Singapore are egg and kosong (plain). Over the years, more and more flavours popped up !

Paratha is basically roti which is cooked in oil. So that has a more flaky texture, compared to the chewy like texture for roti. People eat paratha bcz of the flaky texture, but yeah roti and paratha are very same.

Prata is derived from paratha from India. Their difference, paratha is dry baked while our prata is fried over oil

@@dingaroo2003 nah uh paratha is generally done with oil. Its not fried its just used in a small quantity to just make it crunchy. Its literally the same in India. Its just Indian cuisine. I get it in india all the time but yes we dont have dedicated restaurants to parathas. Never been to south india maybe they eat like that

In Malaysia, you can have roti sardin- with sardines. I used to get roti kelapa, which has coconut in it, but I haven’t seen it for years. Also, you could have roti Milo, with Milo drink powder and butter.

If you asked a local, Al Jadeja Restaurant isn’t near the airport…lols!! The name of that road that the restaurant is located is Changi Road…in which that road spans quite a distance. But the area where the restaurant is at…you can literally stay at a budget hotel there for 3 or 4 days and work your way through all the eating places there and still not be done!! 😂😂😂😂

I noticed food can be really cheap in all parts of Asia. This is comforting to know. It would be nice if there is a seafood buffet. Like all you can eat lobsters, crabs, turtles, and salmon.

They do have seafood buffet and of course at a higher price and usually serve at hotels. The food in Asia is at low price but also there wages is low too.

$5 usd is about $8 nzd. So that is still worth it and the buffet is really value for money. Most meals in New Zealand cost around $12 nzd to $18 nzd. Buffet could cost over $20 nzd for a person. The cost of living is just higher here in New Zealand.

Thanks for all the compliments for the paratha also known as 'roti canai". I think you got the spelling of " paratha" slightly mistaken. It's not "prada" but "paratha". Paratha was invented in South India. And brought over to Msia and Spore by the merchant and labour class of South India and possibly others.

One of my nieces is now in Nagoya Japan teaching English as a second language. I plan on visiting her sometime over the next 12 months. I'm especially interested in the food there, especially Ramen. Do you have any personal recommendations for restaurants in Nagoya? (She previously was 2 years in China, but I refused to visit her there as they were holding our two Michaels captive as part of hostage diplomacy over the VP of Wawei.)
