As you experienced, most mainstream lounges these days are so crowded that they're not really worth it. Unless it's one of the luxury lounges from like the Middle Eastern airlines, with a la carte food and table service and such, I'd gladly skip it if it meant a noticeably cheaper ticket. I'd honestly skip most of the perks on the plane, too. For the most part, I'm just paying for the larger seat, not free booze and free checked bags that I don't even use anyway.

I once had a 3 hour delay flying to the Bahamas, and not only did a wonderful staff member spend those three hours calmly explaining the situation, the solution they had, and doing so with a smile, but they also brought us waters/sodas, and even a sandwich. I was in economy, I wouldn’t have gotten a sandwich if everything had gone well. That’s the only delay/issue I’ve ever had with them, and they went above and beyond to make things right. I started visiting the Schiphol "sky Deck" back in the mid 1970's. The airport was a fraction of the size then then it is today. My dad flew for business often and with one car in the family (very typical for Dutch families back then), we'd be there to pick him up after his mulli-week business trips. A visit to the Sky Deck was a great way to kill time and the excitement of seeing the airplanes come and go. With my dad working for Fokker, I grew up around aircraft. We could see the factory on the far side of the airport. Great memories. I also remember when they added the train station opposite the arrival hall, in what was formerly the parking lot. Then in the 1990's they extended the arrival hall to completely cover the train station so it's now integral with the airport.

We flew JetBlue Mint from Boston to London earlier this year, and agree with most of your comments. The only real issue was that the food ordering system on board crashed TWICE before any service, so it might just as well have not existed! For us, the small seat size (compared to business flights on other carriers) is a killer - we both needed more space than was available in the lie-flat - and the larger suites weren't on that plane unfortunately.

I don't see a lack of lounge access as a problem at all. I think the lack of lounge access is more of a problem for people who have come to expect a lounge as an essential part of their travel experience and who, probably, can more easily afford to live life a little more luxuriously. JetBlue's offer of a business class experience at a cheaper price appeals to people like me who are in the lower middle class and for whom this kind of experience would be nothing less than an indulgence. Thanks for sharing your experience Jeb and Suzanne. It definitely is useful information given in an entertaining way.

Hi Jeb and Suzanne: I love your channel and watch it all the time! I know this comment is a little out of date for this particular video but my wife and I just flew JetBlue Mint from Boston to Paris and then back again, all within a week (to go to a wedding in the south of France). It was a very good experience and flights in both directions. Flying "Mint" is definitely a major step up from being cramped in coach (and obviously quite a bit more expensive too). I love the "pod" that you get in Mint with almost total privacy, once you close the aisle door. I'm 6'2" and had just enough room to lie completely flat, although the pod is relatively narrow. We flew overnight from Boston to Paris (leaving Boston around 8:15 PM and arriving in Paris at 9:15 AM (Paris time), so I was able to get some sleep (and I usually don't sleep well on planes). We were served dinner going over and lunch coming back (daytime flight on the return trip from Paris). The food was very good and quite filling (excellent desserts!) and free drinks are always a nice perk. The service was excellent and the entertainment system and large screen monitor were both very good. All in all, a nice way to take the trip across the Atlantic!

Honestly As a New Yorker, we love to fly JetBlue Having access to a lounge is a perk, however , to be able to experience “Mint” for a reasonable price and great food and service as well as comfort , to me certainly is more important than sitting in a lounge at an airport Also, as you have pointed out many times, JetBlue has a fleet of newer planes The WiFi is superb , live tv and a very nice cabin crew and flight crew take precedence over a lounge to sit in while you wait to board I was a bit disappointed that having a designated lounge would make the JetBlue experience only 19/25 on the “Jeb score” The service seemed so wonderful on your flight , all the “special” touches as well as great meals I think definitely were more important than a crowded lounge

Hi Jeb and Suzanne, thank you for this latest review. In terms of your lounge question, being an Australian, you know that to get to Europe we have a choice of Singapore, Dubai or Doha. Those first 8 or 12 hours enable a clear break and with lounge access, a shower is great to face the next 12/14 hours. Flying across, the Atlantic, the 6/7 hours mean that you are at a probable destination and the need for a shower is less evident, the Jet Blue option is one I would exercise with alacrity and faced with large queue to get into a crowded lounge, I would do what you guys did: skip it. I think, the relatively low score for this service due to lack of a lounge was perhaps a bit severe with apparent good food, OK seats, service and a splendid cost. When are you guys coming back to Australia, let us know and we will organise a get together with know reviewers and hordes of your aviation fans ( plus drinks)

The westbound trip is always fine, no matter what airline, but the eastbound trip is brutal, the older I get. British Airways is probably the best, but very pricy. Virgin is pretty good, though on the eastbound flight, for a good price. And, they have a really nice first-class lounge at the departure airports.

I'd say lounge access is more important when you have a few hours during a stopover when it is nice to relax, maybe shower, charge your devices and get some work done from them. From your departing airport, especially one with plenty of restaurants and cafes like Schiphol, they are less crucial. The food/coffee is better in them than in most lounges anyway.

Last time I flew into/out of LAX on Alaska Airlines, their lounge there wasn't in very good shape while they renovated it....but I was happy to be in there. $300 for the studio? I would consider that on such a long haul flight, especially if I had a SO on the plane....so like you both did, we could eat together, watch a movie/show, etc. Size wise Jeb...you should have had the Studio....Suzanne is so tiny...she didn't need the extra room. haha. I seriously despise the airbus boeing duopoly. I miss seeing unique and different designs for planes. We all suffer from this due to higher prices

Polaris lounge is one of the main reasons I fly Polaris international .. lounges are critical

I’d like you guys to do more economy transatlantic. I do not quite care about your concerns with the arm rest and I laughed at the priority pass lounge queue.

Thank-you for this content, I have a flight to Paris from the US in one of the Mint Studio suites and this is the first review I’ve seen. The cost was so reasonable that I worried that there might be something wrong with it- thanks to this video I know to expect a good experience. The fact that the cruising speed is slightly slower is interesting: I assume it saves on fuel costs, and if so, good, because a slightly longer flight in a more affordable lie-flat seat is just fine. Re your question about Jet Blue’s decision to forgo lounges: as a United Airlines regular I’d say most airline lounges are just ok, excepting a few top airlines such as Emirates. So again, if I can buy a first or business class seat for substantially less, I can use my priority pass or just forgo the lounge altogether.

I think no lounge is okay, because it is hard to get to lounge since everyone owns a credit card. The line for these lounges are unbelievable. I just love JetBlue.

Most intl flying in J have seperate lounges (flagship and polaris) that can not be accessed with a CC benefit.
