My father had a 7300 White with 4 row narrow corn head, I believe 13' grain head for soybeans and winter wheat. Chrysler V8 gasoline that he loved the sound of. I think the better engine however for him was the Perkins diesel that was in his Oliver 1850 and later on, his White 8700! ....one of the reasons he bought the 8700. Keep em' coming Ross. God bless.

I really enjoyed watching this series of restoration on the 7300. Ok, there is still things that need addressed. Overall you did a great job and it works!!!! As you said, all but the birds nest, that was really clean. It was exciting to see it back in the field. You might want to consider a battery and check the charging system, lol. Thanks for your time and effort. I thought it was cool that you went through and explained how it all worked for those who have not been around machines like this. I did see a feature that our case and Gleaner didn't have. The trap door on top looked real handy to gain access. That's not a fun job to have to clean out. See you soon.

Ross, love the outcome! Just a concern from a fellow pet owner, maybe you need to put Buddy in the cab when going down the road, he likely is going to get run over eventually. And we and you love him too much for that to happen. My late pup got bad at the following along like that, we got in the habit of putting her in the cab of whatever we were driving. Got along great! She passed at the ripe age of 15 from heart failure. About the combine, a neighbor here had a pair of red 7300s , used one for parts. He quit farming and sold things off, still has the parts machine. I wanted to buy it for the collection. But the motor is locked up and he had pretty much stripped it out, so passed on it. Wouldn't mind finding one like you did and use on the back farm where the 1660 don't hardly fit down there because of the creek crossing. The old bridge is too light and narrow for anything bigger than the old little machines. Just thought of something to add about pets. We had a scrappy old barn cat that got in the habit of prowling the fields for game. He disappeared for a couple of weeks. We thought that the big red tail hawks had got him! Cutting beans in the back 40, in the middle of the field, I spotted him wondering down the row! Guess he got lost out there and couldn't find his way home. He sure was happy to see me, he rode in the cab with me the rest of the day.

Hey Ross glad to see you got the Old girl up and going, shelling corn once again. It did a nice job for the corn ran thru it. Thankyou also for taking the time to expalin how the cylinder type combine actually works. I have a way better understanding of it now. You were explainning how the cylinder should just rub the corn off the ear and not break it. Is there an adjustment for that? I assume there has to be. Thanks Again...

I have learned to never doubt your abilities! I knew you would get this combine working just fine. Glad you saved it from the scrap yard because it still has a lot of life left in it. Great job Ross! Waiting for your next project.

I don’t think it is. But I’ve had that trouble with the other ones also. That Chrysler charging system is something else.

That went well enough I would have had a hard time not running the rest. By the way, did you chew test the corn before you shelled?
@rosstheoliverman
@rosstheoliverman 7 ай бұрын
I know, it was tempting to just keep going, but I knew we needed ear corn to play with the sheller on the 352 so I had to restrain myself. You know me, I just can’t help sticking things in my mouth. I chew tested it still on the cob.

How much yield gain would you realize if you switched to 30” rows?
@rosstheoliverman
@rosstheoliverman 7 ай бұрын
Hard to say, I’d have to cut the population down because it’s up higher when you’re on wider rows.

I might have to do that next year. But I am in farming to make money so I want to get it done as reasonably soon as possible.
