Does it have a variety of nozzles? Is there a version made for use in USA and available on Amazon? Will it take 10 inch long by 7/16s inch diameter sticks? What length and diameter sticks work fine with it? Does it grip and pull the stick in well? Thanks

Awesome review. One question, the packaging says it takes 11mm glue sticks, but are the Stanley sticks actually 11mm? I have a Bosch 7mm glue gun that in reality uses 7.1mm. This means the generic 7mm sticks bought online don't fit well and the trigger doesn't pull the sticks through.

Thanks David, good review. I needed a new glue gun last year and went with the Ryobi 18v cordless body only as I already had the batteries. Similar price on Amazon to yours. It’s great not having the cord and it stands firmly on the bench.

Yes but I find with such tools that just sit for ever drinking up power that a battery one would need my constant attention to make sure I still had enough power and it's a tool that is always used near a power point so I would regard having no power cost a hindrance rather than any kind of advantage

Thanks for the informative review. I currently have a Lidl Parkside gluegun which works OK but is semi-cordless (heats up on stand, then holds temperature for a while before you have to return to the stand). I don't use it very often as it is a pain to get onto the stand & heating. I would like to use hot glue more often as it is a useful tool, so I looked at this Stanley Fatmax. The Amazon reviews were mixed with a lot of people reporting faults but I guess most people only bother leaving reviews when they're super impressed or really dissapointed. Your review convinced me to take a punt (at £40). I hope mine works as reliably as yours has :)

Hi and thanks for the comment. One thing I have learnt since this video is in winter is that if the gun body is to cold it won't heat up at all it just keeps flashing so I just put it near a heater to warm the body, other than that I'm still very happy with it after all this time

@@dmgladden Top tip, thanks. I might keep it in the house during the winter & grab it when needed, as I tend to just leave the workshop cold & go out there in a padded boiler suit to save on the electric :) Mine arrived today & I used to to hold some hinges in place while I attached them, so already proving its worth.

Update on glue gun. 2 months after purchase and on it's second proper use (using less than one long glue stick) and the bloody thing has packed up :( The heating-up red light is not coming on & it doesn't appear to be getting hot. I did see several similar reviews on Amazon but I figured they were unlucky. Going to see if I can get a refund from the seller.

The sticker on the body of the Dewalt says 85W. The instruction paper talks about the turbo mode, but mentions not higher wattage. There are some Chinese models on Amazon talking 300 /400 watts, but they are ambitious fibs, I think. The Arrow claims 300 w, and it looks quite a bit like these new Amazon copies, so who knows?

@@rancon265 mine is the Stanley FMHTO-70418 and is clearly marked on the body 220-240v 50Hz 200W so that is what I will state as the makers do of course it can't go above that so it is it's highest setting but 200w is what it is.

David, thanks for the review! Just wondering, a year down the line, if you are still happy with the gun. I've got the ryobi cordless glue gun, and I don't know if it's the glue or the gun, but it is only good for temp holding. I used to own a plug in jobbie I bought from Toolio or Screwbie, but someone borrowed it, and they don't seem to sell it anymore. I think it was about £30 and was absolutely excellent. @dmgladden
@dmgladden 3 жыл бұрын
How do you mean how much it can deliver, I have used it quite a bit and when you press the trigger glue comes out ether untill you stop or untill the stick runs out if you don't add another stick in which case it keeps going, I don't want to pump it out untill it burns out I just want a gun to give glue in a good fashion
@Ev0ltion
@Ev0ltion 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmgladden Many glue guns tend to lack power after less than 1 stick if you lets say need a blob of glue to hold something in an odd position. So i was searching for the videos showing how this thing actually works and when it starts to lack power to pump more. Another thing for me is showing just the led telling you its ready tbh i done belive any indicators and judge if its ready by the fact that it can actually squirt some glue thats decently melted.

Hi Dave, I`ve looked on Ebay and Amazon but I can`t see any Stanley 300 mm glue sticks for sale. Plenty of "other" no name 300mm glue sticks but no Stanley and the Stanley glue sticks are superior to "ordinary" glue sticks so if you don`t get the Stanley 300 mm sticks your defeating the object by buying no name cheapo sticks surely ? Here in the states we cannot get this glue gun. Figures. The only affordable glue gun Stanley (an American brand) sells us is their craptacular GR100 that is only 80w and leaks glue everywhere - when it works. The trigger breaks easily and is not a serious tool for serious repairs. As you all would say - the GR100 is rubbish.

Beware of these guns. Seems like David got the pick of the litter, while the rest of the litter dies as soon as you look at it. I ignored the bad reviews on Amazon. Silly mistake. Seems like they pack up with alarming regularity. Only posting here as it's one of the only reviews on YT for people researching before buying. Not David's fault in any way & I'm glad he has got on with his but I'd be inclined to make do with a Lidl special (which has far outlasted the Fatmax) and if it breaks, you can buy a new one for less than a tenner.

Thamks for the video neighbor but I have to teach you a little thing about power and law of power, when there is a number of wattage on a box it means : this is the amount of max power it can or will draw without peaks in the network but hopefully it is protected from it, orrrrrr otherwise just burn your passport and GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY where they have normal power grids soooo the amount of wattage is what a device will draw from the net or battery NOT what it will use yesssss in 99 percent of the cases a higher wattage number equals more power that is correct but when you speak about power in and output there are rules, you can not say : oh ok I got here 2 engines : one says 200 watts the other says 300 because if you give us Dutch a 200 watt engine then we will make SURE it delivers a LOT more then that 300 watt engine you see where this is going sir ? Ok good.... so do NOT let yourself be mislead by numbers on boxes, if you want telemetry then measure it yourself !!!! Carry on ! Stick it like you own it aiiiiiiiggggggggghttttttttt
