You should try the scotchbrite wheels that fit in a dremel, gets in all the right areas. That’s what I’ve been using to shine up my CR125

Sometimes I like to tape that wire brush to my reciprocating saw.

You've certainly got patience and a desire for a good finish. If you can find a heat proof clear finish (possibly in a spray can), once you've achieved the level of finish you like, the clear coat/s will protect your shine and make it a little easier to keep clean. Good job.👍

I’ve found that scotchbrite and wire wheels on a Dremel tool with flex shaft attachment will work wonders on automotive aluminum engine and transmission cases, try it next time!

I think I'm finally gonna pick up a Dremel with the flex shaft. Which scotchbrite wheels do you like? Any other good attachments for this kind of stuff?

@@jonathangaliano2617 I’d stick with the Dremel brand SB / abrasive buff attachments, they’re part numbers 512E and EZ511HP.

aluminum brightener. Get it at napa its like 6 or 7 bucks for the spray bottle. Works great just dont let it sit too long. Also if you have painted area dont spray on it, it will eat the paint off.

Just spend the $$ and get them vapor blasted. Tear the whole motor down and rebuild it so you know exactly what you have and you will have less headaches in the long run. I spent 100 hours hand polishing my cases on my two stroke street bike for a 5axis billet look and will not recommend that kind of work on a dirt machine. Just vapor blasting them and be done. Most local shops will do it for $100 but you will have to send them out to a specialist if you want show quality bc local shops don't do low pressure two stage blasting with ultra fine beads and offen their media is contaminated. Specialized shops charge $75 an hour and so you are looking at $250 to $300. That's about the same as a metal finishing shop would charge your to mirror polish them though that is standard machine polishing and will have rounded corners ect. Hand polishing is the mist expensive because it requires lots of time and hard labor. Your fingertips will give out more than once during the process but tge end result is a flawless flat surface that is above all else. If I had to do it again for someone else I would charge $1500 min on a single cylinders engine cases. I taught myself years ago and after looking around the only guy I've seen do it the right way has some videos about it where he did an aluminum cylinder hear for a Mitsubishi show car. There is no short cuts. The use of power tools will ruin it so don't even think about doing it. It's hard work, just suck it up and do it.
