I can confirm that it is indeed dangerous to "box" with a kangaroo. Their most common method of dealing with attackers (like dogs, for eg) is the grab them with their front paws in a hug, (pro tip: it's not really a hug) then reach up with their back foot (which is furnished with massive claws) and gut their victim like a fish. Doing this to humans isn't much of a stretch for them. Kangaroos are nasty, and will fuck you up fast. It's really best not to go near them at all. Don't get me started on koalas....

As a big cat person, I can help with communicating. Make eye contact with your cat and slowly blink your eyes a few time and or slowly squint them. You might get a response. If you get a blink/wink/or squint from your furball, that is a sign of trust. In a nutshell, cats don't have normal eye lids and no need to blink because they have something called "haws" it's a vertical "eyelid" that serves the purpose of an eyelid without the cat needing to actually close their eyes. If you can get your cat to blink at you with their eyelids, it means they trust you. Cats are predatory animals and are always on alert. If you can get your cat to blink at you, they are closing their eyes, which means they are making themselves vulnerable to their environment by not using their "haws" but with their eyelids that obstruct their vision. Also boop that nose! Update: Also if your cats tail looks like a question mark. "?" they are in a good mood. Tail straight, but relaxed with a cute little curl at the end. I say a question mark because their tail is the question part and their anus would be the dot. Now you can't unsee it..... Sorry. 😂 😂 Also, when whiskers are relaxed and pushed forward with a curl outward (away from the face) you haz a happy kitty 😺 if you have whiskers straight along the face, you haz mean kitty. 🙁

Imagine coming in someone’s home and seeing them tackling, bearing their teeth and staring at their small dog like a dog. I’d walk out lol. I thought you’re not supposed to do that. I watched this one episode from “It’s me or the dog” with Victoria Stilwell (a dog behaviorist), where an owner was doing the same thing to a small dog and she said not to do that, because it causes distrust in animals or something like that.

It depends on the situation and the dog, If the dog is going berserk but still petable by you, just calm it down with calm body language and a calm voice, but if the dog is straight up attacking people or other dogs, yeah grab the dude and push him to the floor until he calms down, it helps also if afterwards you give a lot of attention to the thing it was attacking afterwards, it further reinforces that they (the dog) were wrong. You only do the grab and push to the floor if the dog is in the middle of fighting something, not just if it’s barking and being territorial.

Actually, if you move your hands from petting a spot they're fine with over to their stomach, they'll be fine with you rubbing their stomach. They might curl up a bit in an agressive way, but it's just instinct. They won't try to attack you so long as you don't make the move quick and suddenly. Cats like to have their stomachs rubbed gently, but they also like to play violently. If the cat claws at your hand a bit, they're just playing. If a parrot is bowing its head and acting like it wants you to scratch its head be wary, if they've got an eye on you they will whip up and bite you if you get close enough. My African Grey does this to everyone who isn't me because he likes when they freak out and yet people still don't believe me when I tell them he doesn't actually want to be pet. They're too smart for their own good and will use peoples lack of understanding their body language to their advantage. Just never try to touch a parrot in general, touching them anywhere but the head is extremely sexual to the bird and never try to touch their head unless you are familiar with that particular bird. I say this as someone who works with a lot of parrots, body language queues are so subtle so a bird owners okay will not guarantee you won't get bit. Also cockatoos are notorious for dive bombing even when they seem chill. Just avoid parrots honestly 😅

I kept waiting to hear certain things but I never did... so here goes! Would you like to make cats love you??? Well then here's a tip or two I've figured out after having and loving cats for my whole life :) I could go on for hours about cats and all the cool things that they do, but for brevitys sake I'll pare it down to just the things that directly help you establish relationships with cats. It's becoming a little more well known what cats body language is, but if you haven't seen a video or something on that yet, we'll recap some of the basics. If you already kinda know this stuff then skip it I guess. Tail : Straight up - friendly, interested. Downwards and waving - annoyed or scared, do not touch them. Purring : Either happy and relaxed, or stressed and trying to comfort itself. Winks and long slow blinks : I love you or I trust you! Flops on back exposing belly : In most cases DO NOT touch the belly! They are not like dogs, they usually are not asking you to pet it. They are showing you their most vulnerable parts as a sign of deep trust. Immediately touching it will annoy most cats and possibly cause them to reconsider trusting you. (The odd cat will very much enjoy belly rubs but only try this if you have known the cat for some time.) Arched back : Do I need to say this one?? They're angry or threatened Rubbing against you : They are claiming you as their own. You are a part of their pack now :) I might add more of those of I think of more but moving on... Something about cats that trips a lot of people up is that you cannot treat them like dogs and expect them to like it, in most cases. If you only have experience with dogs, throw it all out and start all over. And now what I consider the most important thing to know about cats... They demand respect. Many people view cats as very arrogant creatures, and perhaps there is a little truth to that, but in all reality, most people wouldn't put up with the kind of treatment that pets do, and cats are one of those animals that don't have time for your shit. I respect that about cats and honestly I relate to them quite a lot on this next point. DO NOT hold them if they don't want you to. They will hate you. If you want a cat to learn to love you and trust you, always put them down or let them leave the second they want to. Start slow, once you're friendly with them, pick them up for a second and pet them, but they will most likely immediately want to leave. Pet them for a second or so and put them down gently. Continue doing this regularly until they start to stay longer and longer. Eventually they will love to be around you and be held by you, because they feel safe and because they know they can leave at any time they please. It makes sense to me, people are the same. Doesn't everyone avoid the person at work that just won't shut up and it's a struggle to get away from them if you so much as say hello?? Yeah. Cats just want you to respect their free agency. TL;DR ^^^ Just read the last paragraph, it's the most important :)
@blitz-o-byte4 жыл бұрын
the arched back , let me add to it : angry, threatened or "to threaten", cause it gives them "height" they will often do this to seem bigger to the threat and thus threaten it back my cat and i also use this to play. i guess. he archs, i arch , he runs, i run, we both hide and wait, repeat until tired
@Dimencia4 жыл бұрын
This is good, most people don't think cats are smart enough to understand respect, but yeah - as long as you don't try to make a cat do anything it doesn't want to do, it will love you. But the video suggested cats don't like eye contact; in my experience, cats are opposite from dogs on that and love eye contact in any form. This is evidenced by their 'winks and slow blinks' - long, maintained eye contact. And from what I've read, the long slow blinks/winks are basically the cat's way of displaying trust, because it's willing to close its eyes around you (not normal for hunter animals like that) Anyway, a couple of other fun tricks to get a cat to like you - -Do those long slow blinks at it. They do seem to notice -If you really *have* to make the cat do something it doesn't want to do, like going in/out and you're in a hurry, if possible, gently push it with a foot instead of picking it up. Cats can become afraid of hands if you're not careful, but a cat that's afraid of feet is ... well, convenient, tbh. And as long as you're gentle about it, they won't be afraid, but will promptly move where you want them to when you start involving your feet. I feel like they kind of eventually recognize that if you're using your feet, they really should listen or you're just going to pick them up anyway -Cat Glands. You know how a cat rubs its face on things that it likes? That's because there are scent glands just above their eyebrows, toward their ears (there is usually a small patch of thin fur here to mark the spot). When a cat's in a good mood, it likes to rub these all over everything - but not necessarily because they know they're spreading their scent, it seems like they just enjoy it. Which is what I'm getting at - rub a cat on these glands, right around their temples. This is why cats seem to like having their faces pet, because you brush these glands, but if you just rub them straight up, they usually love it. Obviously, the cat needs to trust you enough to even let you pet its face first, though, and some cats can get a little weirded out the first few times -Just above the tail. This works on both cats and dogs, but mostly just females, and... well, it's a little disturbing. On their lower back, just above the tail, dogs and cats are both very sensitive and really love being pet there. This is mostly on females, so ... if you think about it, and imagine your animals humping, you'll understand why they like this.

The whole “alpha” dynamic in wolf packs is completely false. This is based on research from the findings of a single man decades ago, after observing several wolf packs, and much later in life, fairly recently, the same said man tried to reprove that theory. It turns out he found that that “alphas” were actually just parents usually. After discovering this, he tried to fix his mistake and even wrote a book on it, but the idea of wolf packs relying on dominance was so ingrained in the modern consciousness that his efforts were useless. On that note, _do not_ force a dog on their back. Not only does it often not work, but when it _does_ it’s not because of an instinct to obey the “alpha”. It’s learned helplessness, and it’s very psychologically damaging.

As somebody who interacts with sharks on a regular basis, do NOT do this. I am a shark diver, and let me tell you. Sharks (especially tiger sharks), will not give you an opportunity to do that. If a shark is aggressive and is charging at you, you should watch their eyes. They have eyelids that close when they open their mouths. Normally they try to attack from under you (if you're scuba diving, you have to stay at their level or below them). Once they open their mouth, grab or kick their nose and push them DOWN. Lvl3, Best friends: If they have horns, give them a really good scratch between ear and horn. They will react the same way as scratching behind the ear on a cat or dog. If you reached lvl 3, the calf, bull or cow will come up to you and ask for a good scratch. They might scratch you back (using their tongue), its really rough but if they reach your back it's better than any scratching tool. A few years ago, I worked on a farm type setting with cattle, goats, sheeps, etc. (only for a summer). Calves, cows and bulls can be really cozy if you treat them well. I had a cow laying her head in my lap and just enjoyed life.

Most flying insects can see the CO2 in your breath. Hold your breath and move slowly and you become invisible to them. Wasps ruining your picnic? Set some food off to the side, away from everyone. Birds and Bugs tips: If you want wild birds to trust you more stay still, move very slowly and don't make loud noises. If they see you in the same spot a lot they'll get used to you and will approach you with more confidence. I used to sit in trees all day with birds feeding on the flowers while sitting on the branch next to me. With birds like fantails, that are flying behind you as you walk, take more frequent steps, as this kicks up more of the bugs that they are eating, and they'll keep flying behind you. Careful not to kick or stand on them though. If you want to hold a bug for a long time, when you grab it use both your hands and cut off all light getting to it, but do not squash it. Hold it in the dark until it stops moving, then you can take away one hand and it will stay in the other. Idk why this calms them down but it does, and if you do it right they can stay there for over an hour. My friends and I used to use this trick to put crickets and cicadas in classrooms of teachers we didn't like, and watch them get driven crazy by the noise the bug would make when released. Do not approach geese, but let them approach you. If you want to get away from them, do it slowly, never ever try to run. If you don't seem annoying or like a threat geese can actually be quite friendly, and you can hand feed them. Most spiders won't bite you unless they're scared. If you see one on you, do not run and scream, stay still and calm. Then use your fingers to flick it off of you (flicking is usually too quick for the spider to react to) if you don't feel comfortable enough to pick it up and carry it somewhere else. If you're having a stare down with a large dragonfly it probably just sees it's reflection in your glasses. The amount of times this has happened to people I know is just ridiculous. Take off your glasses and it will leave. Bees are very nice and usually don't try sting you at all. If it lands on you just gently shoo it away. If it's just sitting there and not really doing anything you can high five it as it will raise it's leg in defence and it makes for the perfect tiny high five. Don't do this too much though, because you will annoy it and it might sting you. Cockroaches don't really do much and you can just pick them up and feed them to chickens, or throw them outside. There is no reason to be scared. Bugs tend to climb up, so if you're moving one somewhere else, hold your hand up and it should stay put. If not it's just being an asshole. If you fill your pants with ants it's actually less noticeable than people think. So long as they aren't aggressive ants, nothing much other than a little tickling will happen. Don't ask me how I know this.

I love playing with stray dogs, here are some points I have: - when approaching a dog, let them sniff back of your hand and never show front. Let them come; - a barking dog can be befriended easily, a growling one cannot, stay away from growling dog; - never go for puppies first, their mother are far more protective and can attack; - if dogs are barking at you on street, cross the street, they will calm mostly; - respect hierarchy of their pack; - every dog has different points they love rubbing, pay attention and they will love you like none other. PS: Parrots love drama, I can confirm.

More chicken tips. 1. Never run after them unless you know you can catch them (which is hard). Sudden motion spooks them. Approach calmly, preferably from the side, even when you're reaching down to grab them. 2. When you grab a chicken, do so from the side or behind with a hand on either side. Press down firmly on the wings and keep them on the ground for a few seconds. This stops them from struggling after picking them up. 3. In my experience once you've picked it up once like I recommended in 1 and 2, if you put it back down, it's easier to pick it up again. This is because to the chicken, nothing bad happened after you picked it up so it's safe. 4. If you meet a free range or wild chicken and it puffs up its feathers, it's trying to intimidate you (they do this to each other too). Hens do that to guard chicks or nests. Cockrels/Roosters do that when there is a hen in oestrus nearby although they'll typically ignore you been while puffed up. Always remain upright when dealing with an angry chicken. NEVER bend or squat or kneel. They'll try to peck your eyes out. Standing makes it harder for them to fly to your face and therefore easier to knock them out of the air. 5. Water is your best friend. Chickens are not like ducks and do not have waterproof feathers. Drench aggressive chickens in water and they'll typically leave you alone. If they are still mad then all then can do is run and not try to fly up to your face because their wings are soaked and useless. Turkey tips 1. if a turkey charges you, don't run. Stand your ground or charge back. It will chase you otherwise. (May not work with wild turkeys) 2. Wild turkeys have claws on their back foot that are long and sharp as hell. Do not tussle with them. They will make you bleed or kill you if they manage to hit your jugular. You don't want to be the person who got killed by a fucking turkey.

@horseenthusiast99035 жыл бұрын
I have a few things I’ve always done with horses, cats, budgies, chickens, and crows/ravens to earn their trust or be safe around them. -when feeding horses from the palm of your hand, keep your fingers really straight and unbent (bendy fingers that reach towards the horse might get bitten, and horses can easily bite fingers clean off). Also, when feeding a horse that’s not your own, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS clear it up with whoever usually feeds them! Horses physically can’t vomit, so if they eat too much/the wrong thing they get colic and die. Finally, approach horses from the side, not directly in front. Their eyes are on the sides of their heads, so they’ve got excellent side view, but the direct front is a blind spot, so if you approach from the front you’ll scare them, and a scared horse is a dangerous horse. -Cats like to show affection by spending time near you, but not necessarily touching you. So if a cat freaks out when you pick it up, that doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t like you, it means it’s freaked out by all the touching. Interact with the cat on its own terms. Also, when introducing cats to new things (ex. A dog), start off with the cat in a safe space and a door between it and the new thing. That way it has familiar smells plus new smell, and no sight of the thing. Start feeding the cat treats and food there until it associates New Smell with Tasty Food. Then create a physical but not visual barrier (like a baby gate) and repeat feeding until the cat associates New Smell and Sight with Tasty Food. Then try removing the gate. Hopefully the cat is at ease and friendly around the thing. -Budgies sometimes do what’s called a locating call (also called screaming; it’s a VERY loud and shrill chirp that they will repeat over and over again). That’s their way f checking in with the flock and making sure everybody’s good. If your budgie does that a lot, chirp back in the same way to let the bird know you’re there. They won’t be quiet immediately, but they will be quiet sooner. Also, budgies love to try and steal your food (my deceased budgie Limon LOVED landing in spaghetti, pancakes, and fried eggs, much to my panicked annoyance). Make sure when you eat around your budgie, it’s food that is safe for budgies to eat and/or you can quickly remove them from the food and wash them (the foods I mentioned were when I was new to budgie care taking; after that, I ate a lot of hard boiled eggs and fruits around Limon so we could share). Also, with budgies, chickens, corvids, and most other birds, it’s similar to horses: they have eyes in the sides of their heads, so looking at them front-on (both eyes) is aggressive and scary. Look at them from the side as much as you can. Finally, budgies and chickens (idk about corvids) need quite a bit of calcium for their health. Give budgies cuttlebones. -for chicken calcium, give them oyster shell bits. Be aware that you might need to clip your chicken’s wings, since they can fly (and some can still fly remarkably well despite clippings...I had two Welcimers years back that would fly above the gate that had bird spikes, land on the ground for a moment, hop onto a fence post, then fly and climb all the way to the top of my neighbour’s MASSIVE fir tree). Also, chickens have a pretty strict pecking order. I haven’t figured out a safe way to “peck” the chickens back to show who’s boss, so what I do is get a tennis racket and when an angry chicken wants to peck me, scoot them away with the racket a good few inches quickly, but not forcefully. The chicken usually gets the message that you’re top chicken. If they don’t get the message, repeat as necessary. -finally, corvids, specifically crowd and ravens (but I’ll just say corvids for brevity). Feed them peanuts that are unsalted and still in the shell; it’s a relatively healthy snack (I keep a saucer for a garden pot out on my front porch and put peanuts in it so the corvids and smarter pigeons can snack at will. Also, take care that you only feed the birds enough for a small snack; you don’t want to disrupt their foraging patterns). Corvids will then associate you with tasty snack. They’re not going to get super close to you, but now you have generations of corvids knowing that you’re cool. You might start getting random stuff dropped near where you keep the peanuts: that means that the corvids are trading with you! They’re giving you whatever they’ve found and thought you might appreciate in return for the peanuts (so far I’ve gotten two French fries, four bottlecaps, what looks like a sheep’s knuckle bone but idk, and a quarter). They also might make some weird noises relatively close to you when you’ve earned their trust. This is individual to each flock, and is the secret language their family uses. Congratulations, you’ve been adopted! My local crows make a chittering sound that lowkey sounds like a woodpecker pecking, and my local ravens make both a clicky sound and a gurgley sound that sounds like they’re saying “Wabu-wabu.” It’s pretty neat! Also, if you’re close enough to a circus to try, please...don’t pet it. At best, you’ll scare it and now all the corvids generations to come will be scared of you too. At worst, you might catch a bug from the bird. Don’t touch them, appreciate them from a distance.

Horses, for anyone that needs or wants to know A horse tells you everything you need to know with their ears, tail and eyes (in that order) also keep attention to how they have positioned themselves by you. A relaxed horse has it's ears hanging slightly or moving and twitching a little, an attentive horse has it's ears perked in a direction, (it often looks that way too), an agressive or scared horse will flatten their ears, sometimes you can't even see them, show you their eyewhites, kick with a back foot or swish their tail like a whip and scrunch up their snout or breathe loudly. If an agressive or scared horse comes at you, snout first, blocking won't do any good but they are very protective over their eyes, quickly put your hand up to their eye and they'll move away or stop the attack, if a horse that's agressive shows you their butt move away, you can't block a kick and it can kill you. A relaxed horse may turn their back to ytou but that just shows they trust you, be sure to make some noise if you are moving towards a horse from behind or the front, you may startle them as they don't have complete 360* vision. If you find yourself holding a horse (rope or reins) and it starts freaking out, stay calm and predictable so it won't accidentaly trmaple or bump into you and if it doesn't care that you're there and you don't know what to do already, give a little longer rope and styand further away, someone who knows how horses work may be able to sucessfully calm it down but you only put yourself and the horse in more danger by doing anytihng but holding the rope firmly and not standing too close, as well as staying or presenting yourself as calm. If the horse you are holding tries to run, don't let it get in front of or behind you, a horse is stringest pulling orward or back and you can't stop them if they want to go, if you can pull their face towards you from the side it can't run. Also, don't loop the rope around your thumb, it won't hold (seen quite a few horror stories where the horse jumped or bolted and the thumb came right off). Same goes for making any kind of full circle loops, they could get stuck on you, the horse or anything and it will hurt when it does. (Edit) If a horse gets very scared, it's flight, freeze or fight instinct will kick in. Make sure it can escape and there's a lesser chance either of you will get hurt

If you do pick one up, make sure it feels safe, and don't be surprised if they hold a grudge. K thanks for reading, and Timmy, try not to kill any rabbits, mkay?

my rabbits really liked being held, they even would come up and onto my lap uwu. I would never let anyone else hold them bc they didn't have their trust nor did they know how to handle them so, :D

A cheat code for rabbits and having rabbits get used to you, is lying down to its height instead of crouching or standing up to pet it. Because if I were just brought somewhere out of my habitat and this giant was trying to touch me I would be horrified. And feed it. My rabbit is fat AF and loves food. Edit: Works with other pets and animals, but I have no experience with any other animal other than my rabbit.

The kind of shark you need to worry about-predatory, rather than scavenging-have front facing teeth that you do need to be wary of, but going for the nose is a good bit of advice, just come at it from above.

No this is bad advice. I catch sharks all the time bumping the nose doesnt stop them, they bump things with their nose all the time witj considerable force.

It’s not actually a good idea to punch a shark in the nose, the eyes and gills are much more sensitive. As well as the nose is too close to the mouth which insinuates your prey. :)
@hircine99194 жыл бұрын
The nose is more sensitive due to it containing nerves to detect vibration in the water to locate potential prey, also the eyes have eyelids which will cover the eyes from damage, the gills are big and likely not a good idea to stick your hand in it in the first place. Also your chance of getting attacked by a shark barely exists so don't even worry.
