I do OMAD Mon-Fri and much more relaxed on weekends. It is a rhythm that seems to work well for me. I still fast until lunchtime on weekends but once I sit down to lunch with my family my 'cheat day' begins! I came up with this plan while reading your book 'The Laid Back Guide to Intermittent Fasting' and it has served me well for eight months now! I've lost 66 pounds and I've gone from being obese to maintaining a healthy weight and living my best life! I love being able to make up my own plan that I love and that suits my lifestyle! Your book and podcast transformed my relationship to food and weight loss and I've probably added years to my life! Thank you for all you do 💗

Number 11...whenever I hit a weight loss stall a cheat day seems to restart my weight loss. I'm so glad I "discovered" your channel today and am starting your Audible book this evening.

Great video. I don’t really fast the week before my period (for hormones, I’m 45) so in a way I have about 8 cheat days in a row😊 makes me appreciate fasting even more when I take planned time off.I think that is the secret, that it’s planned.

Thankyou so much for sharing this video. I just started a month long IF stint on tuesday and I am part of a family of rather unhealthy eaters and bigtime snackers. Now I feel so much more motivated to continue my journey . ♥️

I just found your channel this week and just love your advice. Thanks for sharing. I suggest you don't call it a cheat day but a feast day. Then it is much more positive. I agree than at least on occasions when there is a function or a wedding you can fit in your feast with that. Love from South Africa

I enjoy your videos so much I am very lax on Saturday and Sunday and have maintained for years. It does take awhile to train your appetite/brain, but it becomes who you are. Over eating is a bad habit. Eating the wrong foods is a habit. And both are unhealthy. I just want to be healthy because being unhealthy is not enjoyable. I feel having an eating window is a good habit. As is cheat day. Thanks!

Hi Kayla. You look like you have always been on goal weight, like you never had a weight problem. I will also get there. Thank you for reminding me about the off day. I also call it this and I also choose a Sunday. It's always helped me until I didn't do it anymore. Weighing everyday is also helping greatly especially since I changed my perspective on it. Thank you for talking about looking at the scale as just information, to tell you if you are on point or not regarding calories. It actually does release the pressure. I was being too restrictive and this was backfiring. The minute I say to myself I can't have something then I want it all the time. I even start dreaming about that food. I think it's because of the little girl in me. Hope you will read this.

You have literally transformed how I view food. I have been binging your videos and listened to your book on Audible. I was bulimic and anorexic when I was a teen through my 20’s. Took all the diet pills as well back then. Then I became a binge eater and ate my emotions. I gained 100 lbs. I have probably done EVERY diet imaginable. So many restrictions it’s nuts. So much food chatter and guilt for DECADES/ most of my life. Then I found your channel. I found it a while ago, but wasn’t ready. Now I am. I’m doing OMAD and it’s literally effortless. I have zero guilt. I am eating what I LOVE! I made simple guidelines that are easy to stick to. Tomorrow is my cheat day and I’m a bit concerned, but that’s why I listened to this video again. It makes perfect sense. Thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuu for sharing what you went through❤ I cannot say enough how much I appreciate you Kayla!!!

I like a cheat day before my period. Gives me the chance to indulge on all my cravings.

I like to refrain from the term “cheat days.” The main thing is to plan to eat healthy nutritious meals daily without depriving yourself of an occasional splurge, if needed. Sometimes our meals can be so delicious and nutritious that splurging never enters our minds; but the times that we do think of splurging (hopefully not too regularly), go ahead and splurge! Do not look at it as a cheat day, just look at it as a part of living everyday life. Sometimes upping the calories for a day keeps our bodies from plateauing. There have been times when I splurge and eat two homemade waffles instead of one. But that is okay because I still maintain my IF eating window, and this is just an occasional occurrence. Don’t stress over occasional splurges. The weight loss journey should not be a race… the weight will eventually come off with IF.

That is why I like IF because I also was a binge eater- I would eat/graze all day long up until going to bed. With IF I can eat whatever I want, but now I have a cutoff point.

What works for me: First meal around 1pm, sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later depending on when I feel hungry. When I eat my second meal depends on when I eat my first meal, but I conclude my second meal by/before 7pm. I only eat two meals a day (my first meal is always breakfast food), but I make sure to include something sweet (my dessert) with my second meal. Personally, I do not like an 8 hour eating window. For me, that gives me too much of a window to eat. In the past when I lost 50 lbs doing IF, I had at times dropped down to an occasional 4-5 hour eating window due to eating my second meal earlier. Everyone has to figure what works best for them.

Women should not fast the 7-10 days before their period anyways.

Not everybody is the same or think the same: At home, we feel that "cheat days" are not good at all for people. In fact, they are unhealthy. There is no benefit on them. Because if we eat the right nutrient-dense foods, we get totally 100% satisfied in every way. Therefore, recommending (or suggesting) cheat days to people is horrible thing. (our humble opinion). Because it could trigger binge eating, it would takes people out completely out of ketosis, it could confuse the systems, creating anxiety, leading to depression, plus, it could waste the benefits of HGH and other hormones, and a number of more really super bad things. Cheat days are bad for people's health. (our humble opinion)

I'm in my 70s and have been doing intermittent fasting for 9months. Eating once a day. Anything I want but to be honest it's veg or salad with protein and after a few months I added berries with yoghurt for afters. I've lost enough weight to be happy and healthy. Now and again I have a day when I eat what I like because I'm sure that there's something that people miss on any diet. It's mentally good to do. Maybe an extra meal or some dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts. Something savoury with pastry. I was surprised that my weight stall stopped and I started to lose weight again. When I eat out with friends, I don't bother with puddings, but my main is whatever I want. I don't do white potatoes tho as they just don't do it for me. Each to their own, I say.
