This one kinda hits close to home. I had a huge crush on a girl in my 2nd year of college, but she had a boyfriend at that time. We met at a birthday party of our mutual friend. I knew her before that but we never properly got acquainted , but on that party I saw that she got her hair cut short and I find that very attractive (my first crush was in high school on my classmate after she got a cut like that too, lmao. Got rejected though). We were texting all day and night, skipping classes just to hang out together, needless to say I was head over heels for her. One time me, my close friend who I befriended in college, his roommate and my crush were all drinking at my friend’s place. When night came around she confessed that she doesn’t like her bf, that her impressions of him were false (they were dating for little over a month) and started hugging me with obvious intentions when we were alone. I confessed to her that I liked her very much but she should break up with her bf first if she wants a relationship with me. She said she understands and we left it at that. Then we went to sleep and I had to wake up very early and leave because of family matters. I trusted my friend and his roommate because we were inseparable for those 2 years of college and he had a huge crush on my crush’s friend, he even cried because of her one time. But since that day she became very distant of me, didn’t read my texts and both she and my friend always went offline at the exact same time. I was very suspicious of it but when I confronted my friend about it he always was swearing that he would never do that to me and that it is all a coincidence. So after a week of getting cold shoulder from the girl I wrote her a heartfelt letter, to which she replied only 12 hours later with “I don’t feel that way anymore”. When I confided in my friend he invited me over to his place to drink together over it. But when I came I accidentally noticed in the corner of my eye that favourite T-shirt of the girl was peeking out his closet. When I confronted him about it he said that they had slept the first night we were drinking and that she practically lived at his place ever after. I was devastated. I lost two close people that day and couldn’t feel anything for 2 whole months. Everything was on autopilot, I couldn’t sleep and when I didn’t have anything to do I was just blankly staring at walls, so I tried to walk as much as I could. It was painful to see them at university together. My friend that was once invited to his place for drinks told me that they were having sex like rabbits. I also was thinking that they were laughing at me after having sex on his bed I helped building. But I found healing in books. I was reading like crazy and even became a regular at a library. Was having many walks all around the city. Eventually I started a part time job and it was so much fun that I almost forgot about them. But then suddenly ex friend started calling me on telegram, the only place where I forgot to block him. I hanged the call but he repeated it like 3-4 times before he wrote “I know that you hate me, but please hear me out. She hurt me and I want to talk to you”. After seeing the message, I, after a little hesitation, blocked him there too. I assumed she cheated on him, because I sensed that she was just hungry for men’s attention and couldn’t live without intimacy, while he genuinely fell for her. Couple of months later the girl added me on IG and even added me to her close friends. Without even looking at a single story I blocked her again. Couple of months later she wrote to me “hello”, but 3 minutes later deleted the message. One year later she sent me a friend request on other social media, but after 20 days of me not accepting it she took it back. In June of 2023 I graduated, alongside my ex friend (we were in the same class), but the girl dropped out and moved to another country. When our class had graduation party, I decided to finally have a small talk with ex friend to give him and myself closure. We didn’t discuss the past but just had a brief conversation of what we’re gonna do after graduation. I talked to him only because I thought that we were never gonna see each other again. But to my shock we were in the same class again when we started studying for master’s degree in September. Since classes are rare and most of students work, we don’t see each other much, but I still don’t talk to him and am not planning to. The only regret I have left is that college time is supposed to be fun and be remembered with melancholy, but mine is gonna be forever connected to that spring or 2021 when I felt so miserable I didn’t want to exist. Still a virgin, never loved anyone ever since. I think I’m incapable of feeling love anymore. And overall I’m feeling quite depressed all the time but that’s another story

Please take this as helpful advice, but dude, you're young and overdramatizing your life a bit. By that, I mean the part where you are now incapable of love. Truth is that they still live rent free in your head and until you can get that out, the hurt will.still be fresh. So my suggestion is to go out on dates, find hobbies, and actively find the fond memories you want to replace those bad ones with. Cause you aren't broke, you're simply obsessing over your first heartbreak. Trust me, I was exactly where you were a time ago, and learning that I was the one holding myself back was the biggest eye opener I had from that whole ordeal.
