My sister said that some of her teachers let the class listen to music while they take the test, so they would act like they are changing the song, but in reality they would be on Quizlet or something, looking up the answers. Even worse (or better), when someone in the class finds the answers, they would LITERALLY AirDrop the answers to the entire class. Now that's some sweet moves.

The thing to remember is that tests measure your ability to do well at school. Nothing more nothing less. On the other hand, there will be things you are expected to know and it isn't always clear what those things will be. I have a coworker who can barely do math, which is an issue because a quarter of our job is dilution problems. In the end, I just had to make her some really simplified equations for her and an explanation of when to use each one. This exercise has greatly boosted my career, her's, not so much.

I only think it matters about what kind of test you’re cheating on. A final exam and an assessment are no big deal, but cheating on the SAT requires great precaution and getting caught essentially prevents you from taking the exam ever again
@lapismist Жыл бұрын
To be honest finals very much matter more than the SATs in my country. 10th final board exam will decide your entire future and if you get caught either you wouldn't be able to take that exam and other competitive exams for about 6 - 8 yrs or you'd be arrested. The arresting part depends in which state of the country you are and how they handle such things.

I think I learned the most by reverse engineering solutions to homework. I wouldn't consider it cheating considering the tremendous amount of work I put into understanding the subject matter. As a result, most of the other students in electrical engineering who 'studied for the test' never really understood the concepts and forgot the material soon after. School was pretty much a hinderance to my education. I learn a LOT from Wikipedia and donate to them every time they ask. A really dedicated study group helps a lot too. I've been an engineer for 6 years now, and I would say the most important skill the actual workplace needs is: how fast can you do the research to find the answer? Seems like the skills one would use to cheat are the same skills that are required for the job.

Coming from a person who was in a strict Catholic school, the people who did cheat (or attempted to) would always get caught by the teachers. My school had a very strict no cheating policy which was enforced on everyone since the consequences would be expulsion. We always had to put our hair up (if you had long hair), wouldn’t be allowed to go to the bathroom, and wouldn’t able to stand up and look around even at the clock, teachers would also roam the classroom and wouldn’t be staying at a corner. During minor tests, quizzes, and essays, teachers would always check even if we had peer review, the teachers would also always check if you got sources from Wikipedia in which they’d give you a lower score. So to me, it was never worth it to cheat on anything because 99% of the time you’d get caught. Even then, compared to the rest of the schools in my area, we were pretty lax.

I’m a 90’s student. With no context this is an amazing thing. But my parents now expect nothing less than a 90. I will be scolded by anything under an 85. So imagine the pressure of being unsure about 3 questions in a 10 question quiz. I don’t cheat often but the amount of stress I gain in that period of time I just have to, with no regrets about it. My situation isnt even that bad compared to other people who are unable to get a passing grade without cheating, so I don’t even know why this brings so much unneeded anxiety and stress. My dream career doesnt even require academic smarts beyond a very small ammount of literature and mathematics.

I was the kahoot God and got candy for being in 1st every week. Edit: I also remember in middle school, logging into other kids' accounts and go into the assignment they did the previous period. I could see the correct answers and I only need their birthday to log in. Never got caught.
