Very interesting report. Thanks. Every one of these POWs show a lack of understanding about most anything to to with the "SMO." "As far as I know..." When conscripts, or any Russian POWs are exchanged, it is obvious in their somber facss that they are fearful about going back home. Yes, they want to see their loved ones, but, they know how the Russian military will mistreat them. They are often treated as traitors because rather than taking their own lives, they chose the sane course and surrendered. The "russki mir," is a dark, unhappy, and dangerous place. Slava Ukraine! 🇺🇦 🇺🇸
@Enjay-bt4cbАй бұрын
You're shortsighted. They say 'as far as I know' because they know if they day things with confidence they'll get 'treated' after the camera stops rolling. And when captured, all prisoners soften their stance. Even captured they refuse to say Crimea is occupied and they admit it's Russian because mainly Russians live there. I think that says enough.

They don’t hold back when they repeat these lies and I love when they show them videos to prove everything they’ve been told is pure BS many times using videos of their tsar speaking in both past and present where he totally contradicts himself!!

I had a year of Russian back in the early 1970s, so I listen to the spoken Russian in these videos and can pick out a word here and there. I definitely heard their word for 9, and sure enough, the subtitles had that number. I also know the words for “I don’t know” and “nothing,” and hear them sprinkled around in the conversation. After 50 years, my vocabulary is 💩, but I still love hearing the only slavic language which was available for me to learn. My paternal grandmother was Polish, and spoke no English. She emigrated to the US and subsequently married my grandfather, who was also an immigrant, but from Turkey/Greece. I think that part of the world is now called Macedonia. I wanted to learn my grandmother’s language, but the closest thing available in Central Florida in the 1970s was Russian. Thanks for letting me hear it again.

Sadly I’m afraid, Ukrainian POWs held by Russia, are not given the reciprocal treatment. All of those I have seen returning to Ukraine, are thin, not quite skeleton 💀, but close, also torture was common for the poor Ukrainians . I’ve seen documentaries on the Russian POWs camps, it’s truly not a bad life. When they were left by their commander’s , they had little to no food or water for days, I wish every Russian soldiers would lay down there weapons and surrender, your Tzar Putin , doest give a single thought to all his soldiers, it’s a meat grinder, and they are fodder, hundreds of thousands have died for a despot with staggering lies and deception. All these POWs should be educated about the truth, the murder of thousands of civilians, bombing of homes, hospitals, schools, yesterday an old people’s home , wtf !!! Make them see the truth. Sadly they don’t understand that by being swapped in the exchange they will not be going home, only back to the front. I applaud the one guy who took it upon himself to save the Conscripts , sadly he needs to be educated about protection of Ukrainian Russian speakers , it’s a myth ,until the war, no one cared if they spoke Russian or Ukrainian, even in the Government . Word spreads, slowly at first, but increasingly, exponentially, until all of Russia will know that they were never fighting the, “monsters,” their leaders lied to them about. And, as the cost of the war grows in Russia, as more and more POW’s get home and spread that word, the people will grow increasingly restive, wanting answers. Some moral victories are worth as much as military ones. Wars are not just fought on the battlefield but in the hearts and minds of the soldiers who fight them and the populations who support them. Dear Kyiv Post, English Department: You don’t realize it but “to impress” has two very different meanings for Americans. US students of American history know the second meaning because the *impressment* of US sailors by the British was one of the causes of the War of 1812, the second time we had to fight the Brits for our liberty. English ships were kidnapping Americans off US ships by claiming they were really English and so had to serve in the British Navy. President Madison was not impressed-that’s the first meaning of the word. When you place the term “POWs” right next to the word “impressed,” it makes it sound like Ukrainian forces were conscripting the POWs, as in using them for forced labor. Which stimulates a response of “Say what!? Ukrainians wouldn’t do that!” We know you wouldn’t, but Russian trolls could take this exactly as you’ve written it and use the 1812 definition to accuse you of wrongdoing. Thought you should know. Signed, the American-English Police.
