𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣:- The water moved up here due to the capillary action and the components of this line basically an ink got separated accordingly due to their different molecular weight.

this occurs due to the difference in the solubility between mobile and stationary phase

This is because the more soluble the colour the faster it travels. The less soluble will near the base line.

Chromatography paper is used to separate two coloured colors present in a dye. As the water rises up ,due to capillary action of water ,when it comes closer to ink ,it gets converted into different colors.

It because water is a solvent as it move up it carry ink with it, different ink substance have different solubility so who more soluble in water it will go the highest who less soluble so it will go to the bottom

The phenomenon is called capillary action....in which mobile phase can move upword side on stationary phase
@amarpalchanakya9666
@amarpalchanakya9666 10 ай бұрын
This is happening because the movement of the non polar is more than polar solvents. We can calculate the Retaintion Value for this.

A strip of chromatography paper spotted at the base with the solution of the mixture is suspended in a suitable solvent or a mixture of solvents (Fig. 12.13). This solvent acts as the mobile phase. The solvent rises up the paper by capillary action and flows over the spot. The paper selectively retains different components according to their differing partition in the two phases. The paper strip so developed is known as a chromatogram. The spots of the separated coloured compounds are visible at different heights from the position of initial spot on the chromatogram. The spots of the separated Fig.12.12 (b) Developed chromatogram. colourless compounds may be observed either

The constituents of the ink colour moves at different speed as the water moves to the chromatography paper as a result of the differences in the solubility of the constituent and and also differences between the distances of the colour is based on their different polarities.
