Applause? Yes, because no one was hurt and she saved the kitten. But what if her stopping on the road caused an accident? Years ago there was a remarkable case in Quebec (Canada) where a woman stopped her car on a highway to let some ducks or geese cross safely, then a man and his son on a motorcycle (or car maybe) crashed into her car, causing their deaths (or at least, serious injury). Then she was given criminal charges. I don't know if she was convicted. I hope I have remembered the details correctly, but the gist of it is accurate.

I would have cried if I watched that kitten get ran over. I remember when I was a child, my sister, our friend and I watched what I believe was a ferret get ran over multiple times after it popped up from the little holes on top of a sewer.
