Thank you for sharing. Yes that is a 1953 Allis Chalmers WD. 1954 was the first year for the WD 45. My dad had a an Allis Chalmers C 1949 and then the 1953 WD. We farmed a 150 acer dairy farm in Northern Vermont. Yes I know what I'm taking about as I'm 73 and was brought up on Allis equipment including a Chopper for making forage to put in silos for cow feed. That tractor that you have is pretty complete with exception as you had already mentioned the front piece where I thought it was the compartment that had the steering mechanism and the manual crank. The seat of course and I didn't see the crank that should of been hitched or secured on the inside of the left fender. Thanks for sharing your story! I've been told the front axle is not correct as this was probably a narrow front tractor. This makes sense since seeing some of the bolts that were used. I haven't worked on this tractor in several months but have bought the parts I'll need to get it running. Thanks for watching and commenting.

My WD is a mix in that it has 45 engine in a 40 chassis. Still going strong mowing with a brush hog attached. I use a NAPA product “Gas RX” in it. One shot glass to 5 gallons of unleaded gas. NAPA guy sez it neutralizes the harmful effects of the alcohol.

Tradition says the first one in the seat after it is delivered is the owner. Chicken Whisperer got himself a nice tractor.

Good looking tractor. You're right, the steering box that makes a platform in front of the radiator has been replaced, and of course, that's nowhere near an original seat. That is not an Allis Chalmers front axle. The PTO guard, which doubles as a rear step, is missing. The loop at the top of the starter pull should look like the one on the choke pull. Everything else looks right for a WD. If you ever need to rebuild the engine, consider putting in the pistons and crankshaft for a WD-45. They will fit and give you significantly more power.

I have a WD, got it for the D12 wheel weights that were on it and the man selling it wouldn't just sell the weights, Now I just leave the bush hog on it.

I guessed wrong about what you were going to bring home but it looks like a great tractor. It was worth buying the tractor just to see your sons smile, it would make a great father/son project which is how I got into garden tractors. It would be great to see a cold start

The dozer would have been a big help, but it definitely wasn't in the budget. I would like to buy in the future. We are excited to get working on the Allis Chalmers. Thanks for watching and commenting.

You and the chicken whisperer will have fun getting that tractor going. It’s a good old tractor. Ran a narrow front for years, cultivated a lot of corn. In fact the old two and four row front mount cultivars are still around here somewhere. Tractor is gone. Still have an old D-17. Thanks for sharing.

Yup, I want to see it running! Maybe teach your son how to drive it. I was driving a Ford 8N when I was his age.
