Cant seem to wrap my head around giving up my 2019 Tundra SR5 TRD for a new one. Brother in law works for Toyota and brought a brand new one by the house. Nice truck but 63K cdn for a plain SR5 is ridiculous to me

There is some logic behind the build, trust me, I own one. You have to remember Tim gets more views for complaining, or he just isn't on the same wavelength as the programmers. I do appreciate him putting this stuff up, because it has been helpful. I just don't have things "drive me up the wall" as easy as he does. So far it is an amazing truck. Like a big land cruiser with a bed on it.

Most of what Tim says is just part of the learning curve. Software bugs are typical for a new system like this but they can be fixed relatively easily through ota updates. The only annoying this was lack of heat in the steering wheel.

Just so you know, the flickering you see when you record the LCD in the truck is because the refresh rate of the LCD is different from the recording camera. If you've seen older videos with old CRT monitors or TV's, it's actually worse because they had much slower refresh rates.

Lots of situations where it could be helpful to see 360 degrees around the vehicle particularly when first starting the truck, but even when moving at slow speed. Pulling into or out of a parking spot to see lines or obstacles beside and vehicle in front (like somone leaving a shopping cart right by your passenger door that you didn't see when you go to pull out), when you pull into driveway and see tricycle or kid or dog that the oversized hoods block from view, offroad (though the offroad screen is better for that, in my opinion), etc. Though it stays on up to 10mph, it's really most useful when you first hop in and throw it in gear to back up or go forward. Backup camera shows what is already behind you, but if you cut the wheels sharp, the front of the truck will swing out and you may not have seen that item your kids left next to the pickups passenger door and so when the front swings out; crunch. No, it's not needed and we survived 100 years without surround cameras. Ha. But just one more safety thing that is available if the owner wants to turn it on to confirm surroundings are clear.

Why wouldn’t you want it active by default It’s distracting and annoying an if you need cameras to get started driving a car or truck I’m thinking it’s not the right vehicle for you. What will you do when your camera breaks or is covered in ice rendering it useless? Send the wife as a spotter to guide you in? I think pedestrian alert systems are fantastic but for general awareness eyes on the road not the screen as you are driving parking or whatever. I just rented a Mazda that did that drive off camera thing and every time it distracted me.

That infotainment system would drive me nuts! Remember the good old days, when you flipped a lever to go from RED/BLUE and then turned a knob for the fan speed? You could then toss out the factory radio, and pop in an aftermarket head unit for cheap. I'm honestly torn lately with the great advancements and driver aids, but increasing complexity of systems that aren't needed. Auto climate, good. Climate controls that are inside the touch screen, not ideal. Cameras, good. Cameras with 6 different views, unnecessary. Great sound, super! Cost of the upgraded sound locked into higher trim levels, eye roll... Some manufacturers are doing much better with this than others.

The SINGLE reason I can never bring myself to purchase a Tundra is that damn intrusive hump on the rear floor board. Seriously Tundra, it's 2022. Get rid of the damn hump. Users largely get the crew max because we have people to put back there. It's a family vehicle for many. Who likes the ergonomics of a giant hump when you already have to deal with riding in the middle seat? Tundra checks most of all the other boxes for me, but I'm not spending $60K for a giant rear seat hump in a 2022 vehicle still.

this is just me and my Electronic brain thinking. But could it be that your guest issue on screen every time you start the truck could be due to the fact that the issue you had when it was new and the first time you tried to set it up using a email. But your email was delayed more than the 5 min allowed to enter the code. It could be possible something got scrambled by that first time issue. Would it be worth a try to default the screen as if the truck was new again? Not sure if you can do that or if Toyota would have to do it. Than you set it up again, but just be sure you can enter the code within 5 min. Worth a try, don't cha think? There has to be a way to default those screens, because how would new buyers set up their own info once they buy a used 2022 Tundra.

So let me get this straight, the new 2022 Tundra: 1) Has an over complicated twin turbo engine with questionable reliability. 2) Gets only slightly better fuel mileage at best than the 5.7L V8 with proven reliablity. 3) Is much more expensive. 4) Doesn't have TOW HOOKS!!! 5) And now has a wonky camera system that has marginal usability? I really don't see why anyone with any common sense would buy this new truck over the outgoing version.

No matter how hard you’re trying to sell this glorified Tacoma to us it’s a total Tundra failure by design. Too many gadgets no longevity anymore and you’ll be paying Toyota lots of $$$$ for all the breakdowns coming your way. Sad day for Tundra loyalists.

Well every generation has gotten “softer” than the one before it. Don’t think it’s inherently a bad thing unless you enjoy a hunter gatherer lifestyle void of all comforts or conveniences.

That doesn't get old really fast in traffic? It would seem the camera would turn on and off at every red light or each time traffic slows down. I really enjoy a 360 in a parking lot, but not sure I'd want it every time I slow down. What's your opinion?

what ive heard about Toyotas infotainment system is that it sucks and again cheap. They had 15 years to get it right and this truck completely sucks ..worst infotainment in a truck by far..lmao..

Im going to go watch ram truck videos and write hate comments on them. Like u do. Nothing but negative comments from u. The hate for one automaker is perplexing. Did they sleep with your wife? How can they bother u so much to continually post negative comments on the tundra? U must get a high off seeing a person who is also negative and is not knowledgeable on how the new technology works complain also.

Love the channel and your reviews. But I test drove the 22 tundra last night and it's absolutely cheap feeling. Fit and finish were sub par, everything in the interior just felt extremely low quality. Seats sucked, hard with no bolstering ( Im 6'1 235lb ) It's looks really small and has a weak presence too it. Add in your complaints and this truck is a loser. Even the dealership couldn't really find anything positive to say about it. I think most people will be severely let down when they actually see the truck in person. Toyota just pushed me into the Ford F150 XLT Roush edition
