So I had this exact same problem with my 88 5.0. Most of them were completely clogged because the car had sat for so long. I just took all the injectors out completely and hooked each one to a car battery while sending brake clean through them to clean them out. Worked like a charm, didn't have to replace any injectors. Also much safer than your method of using fuel to test.

What I used to do 15 years ago when I lived with my parents still and could work on my own vehicles, i had a spare fuel rail and i would do what you said, but the rail was hooked to a tank of carb cleaner and pressurized with an air compressor to 50psi then used a flasher relay with a very low resistance resister to mimic a pulse, tho a slow one, similar to how fast your turn signals go when one is burned out?

Great video! Check your computer. We recently bought a 1993 Foxbody 5.0, 5 speed manual. It sat for about 15 years and was non running. We replaced the gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, fuel regulator, Bosh injectors, and some other miscellaneous items. The car ran, but not well. It ran rough and billowed smoke (as seen in our fuel injector installation video, if you’re curious). We ended up sending our computer out to a company that specializes in refurbishing them. It turns out that our main issue was that injectors 2 and 7 were stuck open, therefore causing the smoking. Once we received the computer, we changed the oil and fired the car up. It now runs and drives great! Best of luck to you!

I've had good luck cleaning and testing injectors with cans of carb cleaner, the can has enough pressure to actually see the spray pattern. Hardest part is finding a rubber boot to adapt from the straw to the injector. I had one in my transmission vacuum pump kit. I just never felt safe transferring fuel (except diesel) with a 12v pump.

Awesome man! Maybe pull some SeaFoam through a vacuum line (not the booster line cause it could damage it) and then run some injector cleaner in the tank. The SeaFoam will knock carbon off the intake, valves, and injector tips. It’ll smoke like a banshee after you start it for a minute, but will clear up after. Hope you feel better soon!

A few years back one of the injectors on my truck wasn't working right. It wasn't bad, it was just clogged up and the outside components were worn out. I did some research and it turns out injectors are pretty reliable and rarely go bad during the life of the car. However the caps and seals wear out, what I ended up doing was buying a kit for $20 on ebay to rebuild them. It worked great, took me only a day and my truck ran fantastic afterwards, and saved me a lot of money since each new injector was like $90, or $60 each for remanufactured ones.

Thanks for the teaser with the Biscayne, that was cool, sounds great! You should get a race calculator for the dash, no need to go to the strip! The mustang is interesting, I switched mine over to carburation and put a mechanical fuel pump on it with a 650 Holly and GT40 heads, no more fuel injection. That was such an incredibly durable reliable set up, won many races on the highway too...!

My Nissan Frontier was running really rough so I tried Sea Foam, it didn't help, Lucas, it didn't help, then I tried Shaeler Rislone two part cleaner and it worked like a charm. About 3 years later it started running a little rough again, put some more Rislone in and it cleared right up.

I have an 87 5.0 GT and I took all the injectors out and soaked them in carb cleaner then pumped straight seafoam through each injector while cycling the injector solenoid... got a nice pattern after doing that. Can you put rebuild kits on each injector Ike. We know they work electronically. The kits just mainly o rings you know that. But yeah they make good cleaners some work but my best experience with those injectors is Chevron. Mine is 1986 crown Vic it acts up and I add one bottle around every fourth fill up. The others only work sometimes or not at all. There a lot higher priced some cheaper. Nice car Ike and good show! 😁 Enjoying the beast Chevy. I'm old so heavy Chevy. I'd call her Groovy.

Just pull the injectors. hookup a syringe to top of injector with 91% alcohol in it. push alcohol into injector as you pulse injector with a 9volt battery. make sure to clean any deposits on the tip of injector with a soft brush. I have used this method on many bad injectors and ended up bringing them back to life. Oh and $400 for injectors is crazy. Last time i bought used injectors for my honda (4 cylinder) it only cost me $30, and the guy ended up sending me 8 of them.

On the in-line 6 Fords I have built they run much better with a heater plate ( I used the heater hoses and metal ) where the stock log exhaust would normally fit. Otherwise you have poor drivability at temps less than 50 deg outside.
@twocvbloke2 жыл бұрын
Yep, gotta be careful with injectors, they can have enough pressure to inject atomised fuel through your skin, which isn't a good time, cos it could result in using one of them caskets you have in the shop there... :S

You only get pressures that high on diesel or direct injection petrol injectors. Standard manifold injectors don’t have enough pressure to do that.
