The led screen by the pirate ship looks so bad ngl. Such whiplash from the modern bright ass sign clashing with the other scenery.

I can’t agree with you more. It looks SO ugly. The modern look of the screen is completely opposite of the classic ship wreak style the lake area has always gone for. PS. Very cute profile picture

Honestly I hate the LED above the lagoon. It just destroys the overall look of the area and is a huge mistake in my opinion. I really hope they take it down but idk how we could make that happen

To further add to my thoughts: The ice palace one looks totally fine to me and suits the area. Honestly I feel like an LED screen like the one above the lagoon would be fine on the side of the mall near say Apple and Samsung since its more modern looking. It just looks so tacky above the lagoon and Santa Maria and kills the vibe. Is there anyone we can contact Best Edmonton Mall to complain?

Some things you don't notice till they're pointed out to you. The second you mentioned the gold trim and mirrors a huge wave of nostalgia hit me. Oddly I never even realized they were gone, but something still felt missing.

Let's call it what it is Matt. This is a billboard, and in my opinion it is just gaudy and tasteless. The ice palace billboard isn't too out of place, but the lagoon billboard is simply offensive to the view.

I first learnt to skate at the Ice Palace, and I will forever hold that place dear to my heart for that! As for the LED screens, I'm not a big fan of the one by the waterpark.

Hi Matthew. It has Been Very Hard for Me and still miss My work there it has been a long Layoff for me there and I Don't Go to that place Very Often now and Miss It but Appreciate all the hard work that is done. New LED screens look cool but is so Different with a Empty Waterpark with 3 hot tubs but like the Scenic Single Hot tub at the right side of that huge pool. I got a deal and went for a Special Christmas party there druing the day the very last time I was at the Waterpark. Galaxyland is Changing too. No More Fun Hot air Balloon like Wheel or the fun Kid like Bumper cars they could have Restored.

I want to say thank you for this channel and content! I grew up in and spent a lot of time around Edmonton and the Mall. I loved being there when it was full of people and just enjoying the sights and sounds and attractions. Life has brought me away from Canada and this is an amazing and welcome piece of home. Keep up the great work!

My friend told me to contact you but I was cleaning out some paperwork and found 2004 and 2007 WEM staff passes that they thought might interest you hahaha. I probably will keep them but if you ever do a special on them, I would be willing to let you use them.

There is in fact TWO time capsules in the mall. Have you not been to the area of the mall around Professor WEM's mini-golf lately?

Good point, I have! They also have the mirrors and gold railings. However I tend to associate that with new mall because of the professor Wem theme, changing from pebble Beach mini golf. Of course that has nothing to do with the railings and mirrors, so you're correct!

The ice palace one is nice, but lagoon one is just yikes and it honestly destroyed one of WEMs "Iconic views" when you search up West Edmonton Mall you'll see photos of the lagoon area. That's all changed now
