Thanks very much for this review. I already have more orchestral libraries than I will ever use, and the Acoustic Samples VWinds and VHorns stuff is a bit pricey, but I'm so impressed with the realism and controllability that I may get them anyway. Hopefully there will be a deep discount sale sometime this year - maybe Black Friday. I can wait. I am especially impressed with this hybrid approach - the nuance of samples, plus the control of modelling. A very good example is the vibrato that builds gradually, as a real wind player would do it. Other flute libraries I have don't do it very well, and some don't even try. The breath control and legato play are also amazing. I have some other modelled instruments, but I was not impressed. Particularly disappointing was Arturia's Piano V. I very much prefer the sampled pianos I have, especially Native Instruments Noire and Garritan's Abbey Road CFX Concert Grand. But the beautiful sound comes at the price of large SSD footprints and long load times - especially Garritan at 130 GB. I hear that Modartt's Pianoteq is an excellent modelled piano, but I'll stick with Noire for now. I am looking forward to see what else Acoustic Samples will do, especially if they branch out to string libraries with the same hybrid modelled approach.
