TOTO Toilet. I have had 5 TOTO Toilets and have not had any issues with what they flush. I HAVE had issues with the construction and how they flush. 1 - TOTO’s inside tank flush mechanism is a round piston that goes down into a cylinder. The mechanism hangs up and does not seal at times. It does not matter how old your TOTO is - this can happen at any time. I have added a large lead EGG shaped fishing weight to the top of the piston to help assure it goes down. This has worked very well but not perfect. The inside tank flush mechanism is not the old “flapper” style. I do not know if the other brands current models use the old rubber stopper/flapper(inexpensive to repair) or not. I am only familiar with TOTO. 2 - The flush handle on the outside that is connected to the inside tank lift rod is an issue. They did not build the tank top to accommodate a proper swing of the interior lift arm. A hard push of the handle can result in the handle being stuck in the down position. This lets the water run until the handle position is corrected. As the homeowner I know how to flush so this does not happen, but the grand kids don’t, and the handle constantly hangs up after they flush. The flush mechanism should be kid proof. 3 - The bowl Interior surface or glaze lets debris stick to it unlike any other brand I have ever seen.

What about mentioning the Flush power MAP rating specifications of the flush, along with the gallons of water utilized. This is very important as for the power of the flush. Flush Performance Rating is very important. I purchased a Tuscany oval toilet from Menards for around $100.00. It does a great job.

I would have wanted a close up view of the very first Kohler. I think you should take a look at the American Standard Vormax. Best tornado washdown and flush.
@Joshhhhh123456 ай бұрын
I disagree The American standard vormax is a nightmare to work on due to 2 flapper and the parts arnt sold in big box stores I’ve got a few Ellistons with 360 from kohler for almost 2 years work great how ever I do know someone with a vormax they replaced it since they were sick of not being able to hold the handle down without it not flushing properly every time after and also having to worry about guests clogging it up from not pushing the handle down hard enough since that only makes the siphon jet work they replaced it with an Elliston too have not complained since.
@jbsimmons546 ай бұрын
@@Joshhhhh12345 Thank you for that. Quite interesting the maintenance/repairability issues aside from the flush and bowl rinse. Biggest problem the Vormax solves that others don't is the 💩 back splatter by those with IBD/UC/Crohn's. Vormax dumps water over that part of the bowl. So does the Toto Aquia, which incidentally a 3 port 'washdown' (trapway design) terlit. If I had a choice, I'd put in (from the 1960's/1970's) a OG swirly elongated Eljer Hygeian and OG swirly elongated AS Cadet/Plebe. 😉

@mhtube018 ай бұрын
All companies still make standard height toilets on all of their models. You'll see them on their websites or in any store selling them. The chair height or ADA height has become a favorite for everyone. I don't think you'll find them too high. The old ones when they first came out were in fact too high.

so, i have a possibly tmi question. I really want one of the tornado style or Revolution 360, but, i worry that with the water rotating so high with no large rim, that flushing while still on the potty might pose a problem. Has this been a problem for anyone? I'd rather not get wet while i'm trying to courtesy flush.

We have 3 of these new style rotating flush toilets in our house and it isn’t an issue. We have the Toto product, but I saw the Kohler version at a rental house and it didn’t have the problem either. The worst toilets for spray back while sitting and flushing are definitely the pressure assist models: avoid those. They’re also unlikely to clog, but much more pricey, noisy and bulky.
@inhaleexhale23 күн бұрын
@@djijspeakerguy4628 I was looking at the Kohler Highline Classic, which I believe is a pressure assist with the Sloan flushing mechanism inside. I am not crazy about a loud toilet, but I am so tired of babysitting a toilet which can’t take very much toilet paper. I understand it’s a really quick flush so it’s not a prolonged noise. What do you mean by bulky?
@djijspeakerguy462823 күн бұрын
@@inhaleexhale What do you currently have? Some toilets are notoriously easy to clog on toilet paper, but it doesn’t mean all gravity flushes suck. In terms of pressure assist toilets, the Kohler model is undoubtedly the best. While the flush isn’t as quiet as a typical gravity flush, it isn’t extremely noisy in comparison to other models. They are very common in hotels and small businesses, and I’ve never heard of one clogging. What I mean by “Bulky” is that the tanks on these toilets tend to be quite large in comparison to a modern low 1.28 gallon gravity flush: closer in size to older (80s) 3.5 gallon tanks, but less boxy in appearance. If you are truly using enough toilet paper that most toilets have trouble, these are probably the best option.
@inhaleexhale23 күн бұрын
@@djijspeakerguy4628 I have old Briggs toilets from the 1980s and the flush is very weak now. I imagine there are hard water deposits on the jets(?) in the rim of the Briggs, but who knows. It’s not that I use that much paper, but I do use better quality toilet paper, so it’s thicker and probably clogs more easily. That was the main reason I was looking at the pressure assist toilets. The truth is I really hate loud, noisy public toilets with that loud flush. My ears are very sensitive and so if I could get something just as good that wasn’t a pressure assist, I would do it.
@djijspeakerguy462823 күн бұрын
@ Hard water deposits can absolutely ruin a good toilet’s flush performance, and also, lowering the water level in the tank of an older toilet to save water (if someone has done that in the past) will weaken the flush. I bet your old Briggs was perfectly fine when it was new, and even then, I believe those were a contractor grade toilet commonly bought in bulk for new construction, like a present day Glacier Bay or Sterling product. If you don’t want a pressure assist but want to upgrade to a new toilet, I’d pick a Toto Drake. We have them in our house and have no complaints. The one or two times one has clogged, it’s gone down in a second flush with no plunger, something I wouldn’t dare to try with a 3.5 gallon toilet like yours as it could overflow.
