a few years ago at a comp, a gym from Mexico was performing. I was sitting next to the director, counting in Spanish 1-3-5-7, supporting the team as at the time, other gym parents were not. The director asked me why count outloud I said, it helps the athletes and then he said he thought it was nice that a parent . from another gym was supporting his gym. I told him ,that is what the sport is about, supporting each other. Sometimes, I think some gyms and/or parents forget that while you want your team/gym to win, when athletes perform, no matter where they are from, to support them because it is hard work!
@rachelk57204 жыл бұрын
another story last year: at a competition, a gym from I think Alabama? I can't remember.. was there.. the coaches were not there... to watch the athletes and the parents, only 3 showed up ( I think they drove the kids). I got my kids team to go in the team parent waiting area to support them. I told them they were amazing and did a great job and wish them luck after they performed. One gave me a hug and said that was so nice to be supported from another gym. That is what the sport is about, supporting each other.. and not giving up on the sport you love.

What's truly awesome is that the crowd kept time, it's really hard for a mass group to keep to the same beat, because they can't hear each other, and they tend to speed up as they get excited. This was an epic job from the entire room.

It seems like the crowd did speed up but those awesome young lady's kept up. It was kinda exhilarating.

Did anyone else get chills from this or was it just me? This is what cheerleading is supposed to be about! It doesn't matter if you are competing against each other. At the end of the day, all of those guys and girls are competing for the same reason, because cheering is their life. AND THIS IS WHY WE KNOW OUR COUNTS!! My old coach wouldn’t even let us practice with the music until we could do it full speed with mental counts only. Like, she’d do the first 2 8-counts and then we’d have to go in silence. She was brutal, but we never took less than 3rd in any of our competitions. We were super rural though.

I was so enthralled at their routine it took me a while to notice the music had even stopped. I know this was from 4 years ago plus but it was good to see the other Cheer Teams counting them. In competition everyone is a rival, but all equal rivals till the result is counted. No Bitchiness from other teams. In the words of the Three Musketeers "All for one and one for all". well done again. It's something that should be Garnered in the future and shown to other teams. There are a lot of other groups that have the same level of commitment and dedication, so to say that ONLY cheerleaders understand that level is a bit off. I must admit that I have watched this video countless times. I'm not a former cheerleader or anything, just a lay person who enjoys watching all sorts of cheerleading / dance championships. Thanks to ESPN2 that would air these types of championships on American Thanksgiving when I was in high school and University in lieu of me having to watch a football game! This one is always a favourite to watch that I periodically return to from time to time. I, honestly, didn't even know that cheerleaders learned their routines with this counting method (sans music) until after watching this video. It was an amazing performance and an incredible showing of sportsmanship from the rest of the cheerleading community to shout out the counting when the music stopped. It's one of those rare videos that if you are having "one of those days" where you need some inspiration that "Yes, you can do this!" - this true event can remind you that even when faced with adversity you can achieve greatness.

We need to appreciate how all the other teams began counting for them when the music cut out. That's some awesome sportsmanship right there.

I re-watch this video when I want a guaranteed smile on my face! I know from watching their videos that Cheer Extreme is always a crowd favorite, but for every team to yell the count to help their competitor is such true sportsmanship. At 2:55, I love the girl in the middle group with her sassy face, and also the girl holding her right leg, how she's smiling at the girl across from her.

What I see are a group of young women with Hours and Hours of hard work and dedication. Great job ladies 😇😇😇😇😇😇

This gives me hope that there are still good people in the world. The crowd could have messed them up and got them off beat but instead the helped them. THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL.

Me too Anastasia. I get so emotional because it's wonderful to see how passionate these ladies are! I was a cheerleader back in the 90s when tumbling and dance started to rule state competitions. Great memories. 😊

Exactly as it should be- your show does not stop just because of technical problems. Well done, ladies. And good on the crowd for keeping count.
